+47 Internets | Why are you guys trying to debunk this? Flat earthers make creationists look like shinning gods of intellect, well the ones who actually believe in it. Most however don't, even the modern founder of The flat earth society was clearly being tongue and cheek---maybe. Since the death of Charles Johnson the flat earth society has really gone downhill. In the past you would to be able to send in $15 a year with a short of essay of why you wanted to join and get a big packet and bunch of maps, and a newsletter, which was pretty boss. Unfortunately most of Johnson's archives were destroyed in a fire. Twas a sad day. and... Quote:
Maybe I can dig out some awesome flat earth essays. Some of the guys went really in depth and form a somewhat compelling psuedoscientific argument that is much better than the blah blah blah conspiray stuff on that forum. Last edited by Tea on tuesday; 09-03-2006 at 01:21 PM.. | |

+31 Internets | You know a system is flawed when it's unable to properly explain simple things like the sun rising or the phases of the moon.

+47 Internets | But in that picture the sun has it's own axes of revolution? Assuming that it moved at the correct rates of speed throughout the year, by some crazy fun means I'm sure, there's nothing wrong the model in terms of declination of the sun. It is, however, entirely ad hoc. Besides, in Daniel 4:10-11 it says, "These are the visions I saw while lying in my bed: I looked, and there before me stood a tree in the middle of the land. Its height was enormous. The tree grew large and strong and its top touched the sky: it was visible to the ends of the earth." or Matthew 4:8 "Again the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor." Tell me how that happens on a spherical earth! You can't! Bible Trivia: The great grandfather of Christ was Matthan! Last edited by Tea on tuesday; 09-03-2006 at 05:14 PM.. |

| Q: "What about the stars, sun and moon and other planets? Are they flat too? What are they made of?" A: The sun and moon, each 32 miles in diameter, circle Earth at a height of 3000 miles at its equator, located midway between the North Pole and the ice wall. Each functions as a "spotlight," with the sun radiating "hot light," the moon "cold light." As they are spotlights, they only give light out over a certain are which explains why some parts of the Earth are dark when others are light. Their apparent rising and setting are caused by optical illusions. Q: "Please explain sunrises/sunsets." A: It's a perspective effect. Really, the sun is just getting farther away; it looks like it disappears because everything gets smaller and eventually disappears as it gets farther away. These people are geniuses! |

+47 Internets | I've never seen any serious flat earther who perscribed to a theory other than the domed heavens anyway because it sufficiently explains any celestial movement you can think of. Like I said, flat earth theory has really been in decline the past decade. Gone are the visionaries that once marked this brilliant and open minded field. R.I.P. C. K. Johnson library. |
