| I figured it out yesterday. the 5 is always the blue card. Watch how he flips the blue card over to show it as the 8, and then flips it back over. He's flipping over more then 1 card at the same time. Edit: on closer inspection look at time 1:03 when he lifts up the 8 to flip is back facedown, you can see his finger lifting an extra card. edit 2: I watched it more carefully, this tricked is retarded. Doesnt matter which card he picks the first time. he takes that card and places it in the deck right below the blue card. The deck is prepped with the blue 5 on the bottom, the red 5 right above it. Watch his shuffling the bottom card of the starting deck goes right above the 8. Now he just spreads out the cards, leaving the blue right above the 8. Grabs both, flips them to show it, flips them back over and throws the blue 5 on the table. When he shuffles again the card he shows the bottom card of the deck which is now the red 5, and voila he already has a blue 5 on the table. The only "trick" is flipping 2 cards at once and making it look like one, and he does a crappy job of it.

| brekk has it exactly right. The key things to notice are how he changed the way the card is selected the second time through, and how he fails to shuffle the complete deck. These are key factors in any card tricks. A strong part of sleight of hand is convincing someone you did soomething the same even if you dont. |

| The one thing i like about this trick is that while its still in the deck, he can use the blue card as a place marker. It allows him to get away without needing to do a special shuffle before the first spread. As long as he keeps the two 5's and the first shown card together. |
