I wasn't sure exactly what to put as a title.

Whats your opinion of cops? When you see them do you become panicky, wether you've done anything wrong or not? Does seeing them make you feel better, and safer?

I'm just wondering, because through highschool I really didn't have a problem with them. But after 2 years of college + a few tickets, no matter where, or when if I see a cop I just get freaked.

They offer me no sense of security what so ever, just concern over if I'm who they want.

The majority are fundamentally power hungry nutjobs and if I thought I could get away with it i'd put a bullet in the head of every one I came across without hesitation.

They don't care about your life, liberty or pursuit of happiness unless upholding it means money/power for themselves or the ones the serve.

This isn't childish angst, this is a grown ass man expressing his opinion on what he knows to be a inherently corrupt group of people with near limitless power.

Depends on the Cop(like any man).

Police in smaller towns tend to be friendlier(to people who live there).

I live in a small town of about 300 people, where almost everybody is related(no matter how distant and by marriage) to each other, so people just tend to be friendlier, cops included. (I see my cousin Martin about every 2 weeks as someone inevitably accuses me of dumping toxic waste(lol?) behind my home(again...lol?), for anyone who cares, *part* of the business I run is a septic tank cleaning service, we dump it behind my home in a large track of land I rent to farmers, its free fertilizer for them, and he grows some damn good corn!
(Most people think thier shit is toxic waste, its really stupid)

Anyways, generally my experiences with cops have been good, but I know it'd be a much different experience if I was in a larger city, where they tend to be significantly more corrupt.

But where I live, they're friendly, actually do thier job and take it seriously(Unless your from out of town, then your fucked!)

I think they perform a vital duty that few want to. I have respect for them. I sure as shit get that sinking feeling when one follows me when i know i'm driving a little fast, but I don't dislike, fear, hate, or have fantasies about killing them. But then I tend to obey the law.

After a few tickets just remember, if you are on-campus (at a university) these few tips will save you from a ticket:

Go the speed limit or under. If they are tailing you DONT speed up. Fuck it slow down if you want, they can't ticket you for going under the limit on campus. READ THIS OVER 2000 TIMES IF YOU NEED TO. DO NOT GO OVER THE SPEED LIMIT. A lot of cops will tail you in the hopes you speed up a tad because they are tailgating you. Its a pressure tactic for easy ticketing. Slow down, make the bitch go 10 mph. They will go around you once they run your plate and notice you aren't biting.

Seatbelt. Wear it. Even if you don't have it on when they notice you/you notice them. Put it on. Lap belt too.

Lights at night.. driving around campus at night time or dusk you put your lights on. Seems elementary but I've been pulled over and given a warning for not having my lights on after i just pulled out of a parking lot. Non-asshole cops will simply megaphone you and tell you to turn them on. Too bad most cops are assholes.

Brakelights. If they are out you will get pulled over.


Remember this is just for university stuff, and not all universities are the same.. but for the most part, after paying a few 60-70 dollar tickets (WTF?) for stupid shit, you catch on.

So why do they put up with the shit? According to your quote they are not after material gain, it must be an ethical reason right? Seeing how almost every cop in America acts like they have nothing but utter distain for everyone around them it's clear they didn't get in the business because of an overwhelming urge to help humanity. Fact of the matter is most of them are C student material who knew becoming a member of the law was the only way they could fulfil their power trip desires.

Knew it wouldn't take long before someone started spouting off shithole countries with more corrupt cops than ours.

That argument is like saying "If you have problems with rapists in our country I recommend you fly to Iraq where rape and pillaging is common place".

The law in this country is full of corrupt mother fuckers, the fact that it is better than some third world shit hold little consolation to me seeing how I pay taxes and am suppose to pledge my respect and allegiance to the people. I more or less dislike cops. I just dont understand their mentality of "just following orders" when they bust people for prostitution or other bullshit laws. WHOAMG its so wrong that hes paying for a bj but its not wrong for him to take a girl out on a date then get one!
