I know some of you folks travel, so I was wondering if anyone here has ever been to Brazil. Just wondering what it is like, anything about it's mood/environment/culture/economics etc that might be relevant to someone who might relocate there.

Where in Brazil? The country as a whole is very nice, the city area in rio and sp can be nasty if you're dumb/new.

From what I've heard, it's a beautiful country. However, you have to be REALLY fucking careful where you go, and how conspicuous you are as a tourist. Sao Paolo and Rio regularly have battles between police and gangs that sound like something out of fucking Iraq.

Go to Rio, avoid Sao Paulo like the plague.

Do this and you'll enjoy Brazil.

Lived in Sao Paulo for two years, I love the place. However, as far as being a tourist goes, probably best to almost avoid both. Visit Pernambuco, or Santos, or if you want to see hot german-brazilian chicks, Rio Grande do Sul. Rio de Janeiro is like LA --Big 'beach' city, lots of entertainment industry folks. But not the best beaches.
