+70 Internets | Baseball Cards So ESPN.com has come out with this article http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...t&lid=tab4pos3 . After reading it I looked around my house for my old baseball card collection and happened to find it, and it is in suprisingly good condition, and I have only looked through about 80 cards but some stick out (Manny Ramirez and Chipper Jones rookie cards). Long story short, I tried googling for a baseball card price guide, but there are none for free. Does anyone know of a site where I can find a pricing guide?

| Yeah, Beckett is your best bet, It's pretty much the bible of serious sports card collectors. You can pick one up at most sport / collector, or comic book stores. Findar is right about on the money with the 40% cash value of the listed price. Theres a lot of variance though.. in the end, a card is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. E-bay can be a gold mine if you are willing to put in the time to research, catalog and ship each card individually.

| Ebay is usually what I use cause the newest Beckett guide I have is from 1995. -- I actually thought about my baseball card collection once I read that ESPN article too. I looked up a few cards I remember having but I haven't looked through my binders cause they are at my parents house.

+2 Internets | http://www.beckett.com/default.osi I payed a couple months for this just to sell cards. you can cancel after you do your research. It works alot better I think than buying the book. Alot easier to search online than read through pages and pages of the price guide. Kez |

| i collected and traded baseball cards a good while back... i cant remember what years but i had been doing it about 2 years when upper deck brand cards came out. beckett was the ultimate guide back then too, but it seems like it hadn't been out long. some of the hot cards at the time were the Cal Ripken "f#ck face" error card (i had the unedited one) where he had grabbed a bat to pose with that had a less than friendly name on the butt of it.. they used a few different black shapes to cover it but some still got out with the full picture. it was Fleer i believe and got up to about $50 at best. the other hot card i remember was the Dale Murphy reverse negative upper deck card. i kicked myself for a few weeks over this incident... the card was listing pretty good in price and rising monthly in beckett $5, $8, $10... on the $10 month i actually got one in an upper deck pack at one of the dealer's booths at the flea market. he offered me $20 for it on the spot, double it's beckett value and i took it without a second thought. within 2 months that stupid card's list value was over $100. anyway, it wasn't long after that i sold my whole collection for lumber money and built a sweet 1/4 pipe at a friends apartment complex. it was worth it. now if only i could luck up and find somebody looking for a massive stash of pokemon series 1-4 cards... yea i'm serious, but they'd have to be offering good money. i was l33t at the card game.

+66 Internets | I would just like to extend a hearty fuck you to Eric Lindros for being the biggest flop in NHL history. My rookie and "future superstar" type cards should be worth hundreds, instead of worthless, you soft-headed easily hurt weirdo. |

+2 Internets | Got to agree with these guys and say Beckett and Ebay are the way to go. My father and law and I collect football cards. He has the hugest collection of Dallas Cowboys cards. When we are not at card shows trying to complete sets for him, we buy off Ebay. |

It was Billy Ripkin with the F*ck bat on the card. I actually have one that has White out on it and another that was cut out. http://www.snopes.com/sports/baseball/ripken.asp Kez Last edited by Kezmer; 07-28-2006 at 07:41 PM.. | |

+7 Internets | Ebay, my dad has recently taken up baseball (well football) card collecting lately...he met a few of the bigger dealers down south who get a bunch of autographed shit for free.... long story short we now have an Autographed Terell Owens jersey (by the whole team), an autographed Flyers helmter (whole team), an autographed phillies jersey (whole...I guess you would say team...circus?), Miami Heat baskeball floor signed by the championship team, LSU Championship game used ball signed by the whole team, and next week a "chicken soup bowl" signed footbal by the whole notre dame team. all of this was sent to my dad....for football cards. |
