Video Editors, looking for your help...

Hello all,

Me and some co-workers have made sort of a practice commercial for one of our software products coming out in a few weeks. It's 2 minutes long, and I think it's pretty good. I know there's a lot of image and software guru's that roam this message board, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips on anything with the video; we're all amateurs and have been figuring out this stuff on our own lol. So far everyone who's watched it thinks it's hilarious. We're going to add in more info on the software and logos later (it's for a new query-tool we're releasing).

There seem to be a problem with the image format. DV pixels are actually not squares so you have to set your timeline and your output right to not end with what you currently have: a stretched image with black lines on the sides. Other technicality: all the synch sound (the sound you recorded with the camera) is on the right channel only, so balance it or output your video in mono.

I am not sure it's hillarious and it's certainly a little campy but I guess it goes with the drift of your communication plan (we're a bunch of nerd, but it's ok because we have a great product). Worth a chuckle and the message goes through so I guess it's mission accomplished.

Find someone, anyone, who has been near a graphic design school for the closing titles, because "cheap on purpose" always end as "cheap" when not done well.

EDIt: Oh and what's up with the shaky frame freezes at the end? You should be able to do something cleaner than that using just about any editting tools even with interlacing problems.

Thanks Szlia. We're currently using Sony Vegas 5.0. Also - is there a way to make the video quality any better with streaming that you know of? Your comments are appreciated and we're working on fixing what you listed as we speak.

your aspect ratio looks fucked up. please change it to something like 352x240 (more of a tvrip standard) or to 480x480 (mpeg2 svcd standard) .

right now everyone is stretched upwards and the black bars on the side are annoying. though nerd girl is cute. more video of her dancing with the glasses.
