It's funny to start reading a serious, somewhat heartfelt post on the subject, and then just at the end of it, see a sig calling me a gigantic faggot. It ruined the moment, and brought me back to reality =/

I grew up in the south back in the 80's and we called both those guys the 2 Ken's going to Hell.

They are part of this Word of Faith theology that believes if want to get rich all you have to do is believe and it'll happen and that all Christians deserve a mansion etc; but if you brought up the Bible that shows the Son of Man had no place to rest his head (ie no property/living off the kindess of others) and he was essentially poor, they shit a brick. They had all sorts of other problems like not believing in the virgin birth etc. They're all messed up.

to quote Before Sunrise,

"I really believe that if there's any kind of God, he wouldn't be in any one of us---not you, not me, but just in the space in between. If there's some magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone else, sharing something. Even if it's almost impossible to succeed, but who cares, the answer must be in the attempt."

So, anyone want to attempt via cyber?

God to me is something different. Something that can't be quantified by herding into a building on the 7th day of the week and offering up monetary donations to a non-transparent enterprise. God is not me - forcing my personal beliefs and the beliefs of my denomination upon you. God is not me - telling you that you are going to hell based upon certain things you choose to do or not to do; basically, people that follow the words and works of the Christian God should never judge others...hypocrisy.

God to me is not starting wars in It's name. God to me is not using It's name to pass legislation that would restrict, deny, or profit certain groups or individuals. God is not present in houses of marble alone. God is not something that would doom you to eternal "hell" simply because you don't believe in the written word of hundreds of editors to a work that is 2000 + years old. God does not favor one group above another; what would be the point (as in "why would God create a group of living, sentient creatures whom It did not love?" For simple amusement? That is no God, but I could be wrong.).

God to me is something you feel when you are alone, in times of need, in times of thanks, in times of crisis, in times of humility, and in times of pause. God is something that is as individual to me as it is to you. One can attempt to quantify God with intent, but no one living human will ever get it right. God cannot be put into words. Moses, Jesus, Mohammad (sp?), Buddha, etc; were they real people/ or did they embody real people? I believe so. Were they emissaries or spokesman for God? Perhaps, but in the way in which they percieved God. You may choose to look at God from a certain point of view the same as I.

In the end, God means something different to every single person. Should we start wars, propagate bias, exclude those of less financial persuasion, and/or molest the teachings of a few into the cult-like horrors of today?

God is simple. God is beyond anyone's comprehension, so stop saying that you are right or that others are wrong. God is a reflection of your personal set of mores. God emulates you as an individual, or (if you choose this line of thought), you emulate God as you see It.

To me, God is something that comforts me when I have absolutely no answers. God is the silent force that let's me know everything will be alright. Is this self-delusion? Possibly, but it is personal to me, and it works. Your mileage may vary.

/sleep post.

I don't understand why this is continually argued about. What is wrong with just allowing people to believe whatever it is they want to believe? If it helps you to believe in God/Allah/Buddah/Atheism then good for you. Why must this be an endless debate with each side telling the other they are wrong or stupid or whatever other insult they decide to throw at them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, you can't change that.

I believe everything I saw in this video. I have witnessed this strange phenomenal forces/effects in religious crusades featuring some of the worlds more widely known christian pastors.

Speaking in tongues and understanding that language is considered a gift from God, nothing more.

As for the drunk effect... It's one of the many ways the holy spirit makes you feel when his annointing holy forces is within the area. Some people feel a sudden surge of tranquility, some feel the awesome feeling of being drunk, some feel week in the knee's and just collapse, and some even cry in joy!

My parents are really into the christianity religion and most of these things are something i've seen before in TV and in person.

To strange phenomenoms like this there just isn't a right or wrong answer.

I believe everything I saw in the video too. I have witnessed this in person; usually either in mental hospitals, 1am at a late drinkers comedy nite or a local drug fest. Oh and on hypnotism shows.

Some may even feel the awesome power of persuasion, combined with a very potent placebo!

But I may have said too much. Look, if they want to jump around acting all goofy crazy and shit so we can watch them on video and laugh our asses off, more power to them. No problem with that. Don't draw me into this horseshit religious debate. Fuckers.

Goodbye stranger, it's been nice. Hope you find your paradise. Tried to see your point of view, hope your dreams will all come true. Goodbye Mary, goodbye Jane, will we ever meet again? Feel no sorrow, feel no shame. Come tomorrow, feel no pain.
