If you've read the Old Testament or have any kind of theological study in your background you will find that God actually commanded genocide. People too often look at papers written by "smart guys" and I use the term smart loosely here. Who happen to find two passages that seemingly contradict. I mean sure, go to any book, scientific paper, etc and you'll find tons of contradictions. What matters is context, far too often different sects within Christianity will take things out of context, simple things, and fight over it. Entire denominations have been founded off of the differing interpretations of a single verse. It all comes down to needing to read the Bible for yourself and trying to understand it yourself. Don't be a slack ass and refuse to be fed ideas that may be flat out wrong interpretations, find out for yourself if you hate the concept of Christianity.

+2 Internets | When I was younger, I somehow ended up at a pentacostal service with one of my friends (his dad was a pentacostal preacher, actually), and everyone started to go crazy... except for me... and my friend. I suppose a little potential embarassment is more powerful than the spirit of god. |

| Whether Jesus could walk on water or not, he was a great man way ahead of his time. His teachings were great, and probably helped steer Western civilization down an ultimately better path. The Old Testament, though, that's where you'll find a lot of the stupid quotes coming from. Damn jews. Amirite? |

1. Love God. 2. Love you neighbor as you love yourself. Stuff like that.

No? Then stop stating things you can't confirm as fact. God cannot be proven nor disproven. Therefor, God is not scientific and cannot be calculated with numbers or measured, etc. I'm not a religious nut or anything. But I absolutely loathe when people state a belief as fact. I don't care if you believe God is real or not, don't state your opinions as fact. Same goes for Christians, Islamics, Spagettimeatballists. Sit the FUCK DOWN...

Events like the Crusades weren't so much Jesus's fault as they were people getting caught up in their own hype. Religious fervor doesn't have anything to do with spirituality, it's rooting for the home team. The exact same sort of attitude that bible thumpers have for their specific denomination can be found in some sports fan for his team. Gotta support the team. It's a mentality that goes back way before civilization, where people/hominids would defend and support what's familiar to them and apprehensive or hostile towards anything foreign. It's an ancient mindset, and it's a huge part of what's wrong with our world. Stuff like that would happen whether or not Jesus came around, but at least he helped instill the guiding, noble principles that Western civilization adheres to (in theory). I'm not saying Jesus changed mankind by his ideas alone. It was a series of freak events that led to Rome adopting Christianity. He was at the right place, at the right time to leave a lasting mark on mankind. Jesus wasn't the first to come up with these ideas. You have to wonder how many came before him that didn't get the same coverage. Either way, though, his ideas of social change and equality definitely didn't hurt us; it was the people that purported to speak and fight in his name, in obvious breach of his teachings, that hurt us.

if you mean a being so different, so distant from anything we can consider "life", yes.... it probably exist. Someone once said the universe itself is a living being. should it be considered "God"? but if you mean an almighty/omnipotent being, source of the entire concept of existence, absolute ruler on what is right/wrong, good or bad, ultimate reason of our existance, who will judge you the day you die, and the only salvation is him no, he doesnt exist. this is just a vision finely crafted to control us
