| 23 year old man attacked by wild hog http://www.ksat.com/news/9424590/detail.html Yep. I don't have pictures of the wounds yet, but I doubt you guys want to see them. They're pretty brutal. Contrary to what the news article says, half of my calf was NOT ripped off, but a good portion of my upper calf was torn into, and a nice little chunk of fat on the left side of my hip was taken out. We have a sheep trap at the ranch I work on that we like to set everytime we go up there so maybe we can catch some sheep. Or hogs, if we can, so we can shoot them. We set the trap Friday night, and Saturday morning it was triggered, but no sheep were inside. This means that some baby hogs got in, tripped it, and got out through some of the various holes in the trap that only baby hogs can get through. So we set it again, and came back Sunday afternoon (we were leaving to go back to Houston) to see it triggered a second time. Again, we didn't see anything, so I tied it open. However, I looked to my right and saw the biggest, baddest, meanest feral hog I'd ever seen, accompanied by a slightly smaller, yet still badassedly big hog. I shouted to my boss that we had two hogs and he got the guns ready, while I tried to make it to the gate to shut it. The big hog, however, didn't like that at all, so it charged me. I realized that I couldn't make it to the gate before it, I couldn't outrun it, and I couldn't make it to a fence to escape from it, so I tried to out maneuver it. It worked for about a split second, at which point it turned around and bite my left leg something fierce. It ran back into the trap and was coming around for its second round (I was between it and the gate), when one of the guys I work with (and a good friend at that) shot it four times with a 40 cal glock 27, hollow points. At that point everyone was on top of their game. I was put in the back seat of the truck with paper towels around the wound, no hemorraging, and my boss got on the phone with the local 'man' in town, who set everything up for me. We got a sheriff escort through town to the ambulance that was waiting for me. They took me to Uvalde (about 30-45 minutes away) where I was life flighted to San Antonio, and bandaged up. I was out of the hospital by around 8 that evening. So these last couple days I've spent passing in and out of consciousness in a pain filled vicodin haze. I can't use my left leg at all, and it's painful to do so much as switch positions on the couch. That said, I'm getting by. Changing my bandages is probably the worst thing I can imagine doing, but I do it twice a day well enough, even if it sometimes takes 45 minutes or more .Anywho, I just thought you guys might be interested. Yeah yeah, I don't have pics like I did for the spider bite, but seriously, you probably don't want to see them. It's like something you'd find on ogrish.com.

| Yep. Had it before, but I wasn't too impressed. Some people swear by the taste, though.

| I know by your testimony that it probably is really bad, but I'm morbidly curious about wounds and the like...you sure you don't have any pictures at all for us? ![]()

| I livein South Carolina. Wild Hogs are talked about seriously around here and I believe em. They sound mean as fuck. On a side topic.. They hunt deer with dogs around hear. You sit on you truck and wait for a pack of rough ass dogs to chase a deer into the road. I’m a supporter of wildlife management through hunting but I think they treat the dogs like shit and it bothers me. A "deer dog" is different than a pet dog they say. I don’t get it and I reckon I hate South Carolina in general. They don’t the dogs for a few days before a hunt and if a dog sucks at hunting they shoot it with a cheap bullet or 2. I know for a fact I’m generally a pussy but fuck it I like dogs. Anyone familiar with deer dogs? |
