| 8 bit music shit I figure there's a good chunk of us who appreciate the old 8 bit music for NES. Poking around I found some decent bands that cover alot of it. The Advantage is a NES cover band but it's mostly acoustic, which was cool until I found The Minibosses. They do alot of popular games (Super Mario, Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Megaman 2 etc..) Here's Super Mario 2 cover from one of their albums, anyway. The Megaman 2 one is the best, I think. But no link to it on their site. You can 'probably' find their albums via torrent. Anyone know of any other good NES cover bands? This shit is hot. Last edited by qxx : 05-04-2006 at 01:00 PM. |

| Yeah old news... Not exactly a NES cover band, but check out Horse the Band. In other old news some people figured out how to reprogram (or something...I dont know computer crap) gameboys and turn them into musical instruments. Beck got wind of it and did it, made an EP called Gameboy Variations, pretty sure it remixes of some of his songs (but they could be new, I'm not too familiar with Beck) played on a mod'ed Gameboy.

| Ah, I knew they weren't a new band but searching for 'Minibosses' on this forum can turn up a variety of results. The only post I found even mentioning these guys was from 2002 and probably overlooked by many. Sorry to waste your internet minutes. |

+5 Internets | www.ocremix.org Some good stuff here. I particularly like the River City Ransom remix and the Doom 2 stuff. Lots of good Megaman stuff too. Mostly techno, some metal, all in all some nice little gems here and there to add to your music collection (if you can stand all the god forsaken popups. |

| http://www.8bitweapon.com/ is the best i've ever heard, pretty good presentation too. I saw them at E3 a few years ago and i've downloaded all their new stuff since then. Still good stuff.

+8 Internets | I'm gonna have to second ocremix.org. I been going there for years, and tend to find some pretty damn good songs on there. Big fan of the Marble Madness, Blaster Master, and Castlevainia songs (specifically DJ Chrono's). Yer gonna find a shitton of Zelda/Chrono Trigger/Final Fantasy remixes on there, since those are "the" games. But all in all, a good site for free tunes.

| The Advantage suck and look like wannabe emo versions of the Minibosses. I have seen minibosses play entire games , like megaman and mario bros without breaking a sweat. Nobody beats them live. You might get some songs on an album but browse around youtube for 20 minutes and you should find them live. They bring down the hammer on any 8bit recreation. |
