Yeah, it's pretty funny. I'm amazed cops made it. The mayor of fagtown is way overreacting, and the police chief is clearly his puppet, hired because she is a chinese woman. "Egregious" seems to be their buzzword of the day.

There are a few benefits you have as a cop:

Get pulled over drunk driving in civilian clothes/car? No problem!

Get pulled over doing 20+ over the speed limit? Not an issue!

Rear end someone in the cruiser and turn it around on them? No big deal!

Fuck the po-lice.

I'm sorry you've had bad experiences with a tiny fraction of officers, but i don't think this warrents over generalizations.

It must be something in the water in Ohio.

When I was 16, a watched a cop take a left turn and almost take out a female friend of mine who was walking in a fuking CROSS WALK while the light was flashing "don't walk" (under Ohio law, you're allowed to be in the cross walk at this time and car ALWAYS have to yeild to pedestrians). The cop proceeded to yell at all of us. No shit. He made my girlfriend, my friend who had to leap not to get her knees crushed by his bumper, and myself stand on the curb and listen to him talk smack to us for having "poor judgment".

I've seen cops pull out their pistols and point them at people for moving violations. Not heard about. Not read about. SEEN.

The bottom line is that cops are people. Some of them are great. Some of them don't watch where they're fuking driving and almost cripple teen-age girls who are legally walking in cross walks.

I know in Edmonton that the Police Chief does not necessarily even have to be a cop. They just have to be "qualified" for the job. Of course, there's never been one who wasn't one, and I'd imagine if there were they'd not last long as a police force is just an old boy's club, and they'd get no respect or cooperation whatsoever.

As far as cops in general, I think that the majority of them are good guys. Problem is, there is a large portion of them that are not, and even if it's just a few they ruin it for everyone else. It seems that every major city's police force in Canada has been under extreme scrutiny for one thing or another in the past 5 years, and Edmonton's has been a complete fucking basket case. We've got 20+ dead hookers in the past 10 to 15 years and only recently have they actually been dedicating decent resources to it (it's almost definitely at least one serial killer), meanwhile they've got enough resources to have 7 officers coordinate an undercover drunk driving sting on the head of the civilian police commission and a journalist who had been critical of the force in the past. Once news of that broke, the recently hired chief tried to do a cover up, but someone leaked radio transcripts from that night that contained some pretty disturbing conversations (they had obviously been surveiling the journalist's house, made homophobic comments about the head of the commission, and so on) and the chief got his ass fired after only a few months on the job.

Shit like that just disgusts me, and you know similar bullshit is going on all the time. So again, the majority of cops are good, but the minority that aren't are bad enough that I basically despise cops in general.

If I hadn't been given enough "f*cked with" material by cops in my life to be able to produce Super Troopers 2 through 8, I would gladly stand up for these officers because this is a clear cut case of too much government... but seeing as I don't know these officers, I must assume that they are like the other 95% who see the law subjectively dependent upon situation.

I agree with Zhavric up there, Ohio cops are a unique breed, one which I would be happy to see go extinct. Haven't had too many problems with Florida cops in the few years I have lived here though, so it must be a population issue, less people=more boredom=more time to turn corrupt.
