Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

I'm well aware this shit's probably extremely old for the internet superstars that read this forum but I stumbled upon this goldmine just yesterday and I felt obliged to post it here for the poor souls that don't actively browse the awful forums :

There was a big article about this disorder in the newspaper several years ago in DC. One person had so much additional weight in their house that it damaged the foundation and the house was on a tilt. It had to be condemned by the city and everything was thrown out. There were some obscene number of large construction dumpsters used to cart everything away. One interesting finding was the nest of rats living in the oven.

My mom has that condition, although not QUITE as bad. There are still quite a few boxes in most of the rooms, and one of the showers is full of garbage, as well as the dining room, living room, and my parent's bedroom, and the rec room. The kitchen looks somewhat normal in my house...my bedroom i shove the shit back into my mothers room....and umm....the bathrooms look sorta normal compared to that. My bedroom stuff creeps into..one closet sometimes houses my moms dresses she never wears until i throw them back in her room as well as some other junk. I hope to god my mom's condition does not get to the level of that.

Well those tend to be extreme cases.

Actually, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is REALLY common.

If you've ever known someone who has to check something more then once (door is locked, oven is off, appliances are off) or can't do something until something is done "just right", that's the same thing, just a far milder case.

Yes, I think just about everyone tend to have this kind of behavior regarding very minor things of the everyday life : Double checking the door, lacing up your shoes in a certain way, collecting certain objects... People call them superstitions or habits but it's the same mental mecanism only hundreds of time worse concerning this woman.
