Two reasons we lost Vietnam:
1. Politicians ran the war and not generals. Take Hill 222, then lave Hill 222 only to have to retake Hill 222 ad nauseam. FYI: The US Army has NEVER lost a single objective when initially given an order to take a piece of real estate. We should have marched all the way through N. Vietnam and owned the whole country.

2. Because of #1, which led to soldiers being insensitive "liberators", we lost the support of the S. Vietnam locals and that made each inch of ground a possible deathtrap and eventual sum zero loss for the US military.

You can call others insensitive all you want, I was in Desert Storm 1 in 1991, and I can tell you this, over there you do NOT want to insult a nation of religious fanatics. Cause unlike Vietnam, which was a battle of ideologies, Communism vs. Capitalism; in Iraq EVERYONE is a Muslim. And, if those people decide that Allah wants them to go back to a dictatorship then fuck-all the US servicemen cause they won't have a pot to piss in when they encounter two million impassioned Muslims out for their heads.

Bottom line in the 21st Century? Be a sensitive warrior or fucking die. People, especially in the Middle East, just don't care enough about their lives to put up with Yankee bullshit and Manifest Destiny anymore. Whites may be the greatest warriors pound per pound but unless we are willing to drop atomics we will lose every conventional war EVER if we fail to win the hearts and minds of the indigenous population.
