not to mention if something goes wrong with the landing they need to have enough thrust to "touch and go" and try again. like if they overshoot the shorter than normal runway down in st. martins

| We bawlin boi! | I was there this past Christmas in St. Marteen on a cruise, about 20 yards from that exact place. I believe it's on the Dutch side of the island, anwyays, the taxi driver was telling us about how it's a very famous spot for kids and other tourist morons who hang on to the fence and the air blasts will knock people back into the water, people get broken arms etc all the time he was saying. The people who think its shopped are just dead fucking wrong, stop posting.

| I landed at St. Maarten's when I was getting my ASA 50+ blue water cert and my diving certs on a month long vacation. It really isn't any different or scary than landing at any other airport. In fact, it's a lot easier than most because you just come straight in. Fuck, navigating Miami international was far more stressful than landing at St. Maartens, that airport fucking sucks. But yeah it definitely is real. But having seen jet engines knock a car flying both on Top Gear and in real life incident videos I wouldn't stand on that beach during a landing. |

+31 Internets | Yeah, I can't see how that's safe. One of the big things they pushed when I was working on the flightline was areas you weren't supposed to stand in, and it was like 200 yards behind an engine, and 25 feet in front of an engine were bad news. We never had an incident involving engines when I was there, though.

Ive also seen what happens when a pilot puts a engine on full thrust with vechiles behind it. They sent a baggage trolly flying 300 feet through the air, and each of those carts weighs about 2-3 tons. Nobody injured in that incident, but one of the carts did land on another plane damaging it some. Turbines of a plane landing dont place the air the same as one taking off. A turbine while landing will kinda disperse air to the sides and around more than just straight back which lets them keep it reved up incase they need to pull out but doesnt generate much thrust or something like that. So a plane landing wont knock shit over unless it engages its thrust to take off again- but then you better fucking believe it will send cars flying like leaves. Im sure a pilot could describe it in more detail, i think its called air breaking or something.
