If you're a smart person with any kind of skill at something you don't end up in the military...usually. Our military loves going after the kids that are poor, stupid, and have little hope of accomplishing anything outside of the service. They can still be great people and many are, but there's plenty of assholes.

I was disgusted when I was graduating high school. The recruiters were like parasites going after the guys who came from poor homes or were just dumber than the average kid. They lied and twisted the truth in all sorts of ways to convince them to join.

Maybe the Army and Marines do this looking for grunts and bullet catchers, but a huge portion of the services requires you to be intelligent as fuck. Look at the Air Force and 95% of the jobs they do, you can't be a fuckwad retard and do this shit. It requires a lot more intelligence than a lot of people think. Everyone in the military isn't a fucking grunt infantry soldier who's sent in to shoot up the rag heads, sorry.

that's why I qualified my comments with usually and used "poor" along with stupid. if your parents can't afford college or your just a poor person with no true ambition then what do you have left? military service.

As I said some people just want to serve anyways. They are smart and have other options. I'm not saying these people don't exist.

Also the military trains people, obviously. If a person going into the military already had the experience and knowledge of doing technical work do you think they would still join the military? most wouldn't. They join because they don't already know how and can't get a good job.

Think about this. Let's say every single person that would eventually join the military (starting now) is given ample money or a skill of some kind that's useful in finding a good job. Want to bet at how bad of a recruiting problem our service would have?

I think some people speak the truth and that does not include James. Look at that picture of that pretty lady that turned into a hideous monstrosity. Did anyone look back and say damn, I shouldn't make fun of her. If you ask me the lady's situation was much more tragic than the soldier. She was hit by a drunk driver while the soldier was, well a soldier. The lady didn't CHOOSE to be hit by the drunk driver while the soldier went into war FULLY KNOWING THE RISK IN WAR.

Now take a step back and STFU if you think making fun of the soldier crosses the line.

EDIT: I should note that I feel sorry for both the lady and the soldier but I won't stop people from making fun of them nor will I force my opinion and feelings on others.
