I think there's more than one force at work here. This probably started just as you say, with some stings and a reaction. The subject of the picture most likely did not seek medical attention. This was likely then complicated with an infection and, of course, irritation and drying caused by the sun.

The problem with stings and a reaction alone is that both cause swelling, and when combined, the swelling is extreme. The sillheouette of his face seems much too symmetrical and natural for that kind of swelling to be happening. For instance, his cheekbones are still raised, and the cleft of his chin can still be seen (behind the bumps).

Hell, that's my best guess. Someone here will most certainly have enough medical knowledge to come up with a much, much better hypothesis.

this is absolutely acne and this picture isn't as rare as you'd suspect. the worst type of acne is called cystic (spelling?) acne which actually has few "white heads". cystic acne is deep under the skin and tends to cause great swelling and redness and it's painful as fuck. scabs are due to the subject popping them and will usually cause terrible scarring. i'm sure all of you have seen an older person with lots of pitted scarring on the cheaks and face. this is usually from a bad case of acne as a kid. i have tons of prescription brocures from acne medications lying around somewhere with tons of before and after photos. pretty amazing shit actually. they have some cases worse than that photo that was linked that have been 100% cured.

oh and just so you know. excessively washing your fash tends to make your skin worse and eating greesy foods or chocolate does not in any way contribute to acne.

Cystic acne is fucking terrible. Often leaves a ton of scarring and theres nothing someone can do about it except certain types of long term medication and painful shots in the face. Even plastic surgery cannot get most people back to 100%. Its not a diet thing either, its just a case of really bad luck thanks to genes. And its definately not as rare as you would think.

oh it's curable. but yeah long term like 8 months on average. just a pill does it and usually it goes away and never comes back. most common brand used is accutane but there are plenty of generic brands. expensive as hell though. stuff costs around 650/month for 8 months for the generic brand!

maybe $650 a month if you have zero insurance. My sister was on Accutane. You have to go in either monthly or bi-monthly for blood tests, to make sure it isn't destroying your liver.

Hey I tried saving the picture to my computer (the hasselhof one) and when I save it, the only thing that comes up is a still picture of him. How do I save it so I can get the moving image on my computer?
