Here's a shot of the latest project I'm working on, and I post it as an example of how NOT to solder. My soldering iron is horribly awry right now, as the top half inch of the tip doesn't get hot enough to melt the solder, so I have to half-ass each joint I make.

That's what happens when your iron doesn't get hot enough to cause the solder to bond to your components, which is why you see extra solder bubbling everywhere all wrong. The iron also doesn't get hot enough for my desoldering braid to properly function, so fuckups are nearly permanent. I'll post a shot of the whole disaster in an hour or two when I'm done.

I recommend using a file to help keep the soddering tip clean of the waste.

I have a grinder, so whenever I can barely use the soddering tip anymore, I just grind a very, very thing layer off. Good as new now
