| I don't see what's so "wtf" about the Butt-Out tool. I understand the vast majority of the boards, including myself, are not hunter types, but you DO understand there is a thing called hunting in which folks shoot animals in the wild then have to do unpleasant things with the corpses in order to eat the meat, right? You know that the meat you eat goes through some nasty processes itself right? I knew a guy who used to work in the "blood room" of a slaughterhouse where he'd electrocute the fresh corpses of cows among other things. Being a geek is OK in my book, but being as ignorant about non-geek matters as non-geeks are about geek matters is, well, hypocritical given the innate sense of superiority often found in geek culture. |

And a couple notes: The max table size is now 256TB, which, by the way, I could mount with the filesystem that box uses if I had the money to actually buy it. Maybe if you could read, you would see that my post that you quoted is explaining that obviously I don't really have 256TB of space, but I do have more than you guys could ever use up. "something about raid-6" - ...not even gonna address this to an armchair server "expert" but that comment was laughable. Read the wiki article and picked the only raid level with mention of a 1TB drive did you? good work! You're ready to lose a company millions of dollars! Sadly, however, in the real world, there are arrays with 20,000+ drives and NONE of them use raid-6, and NONE of them can lose data after 2, 20, or 200 drive failures. Hell, even that SQL box has to lose up to 4 drives(of 6) before it will lose any data.

I don't see the point to Butt-Out, though. I think it would make things messier than necessary.

| If you gut a dear correctly, then this tool is useless if not worse by getting fecal matter on your hand for the purpose of avoiding fecal contamination. If one where to do this correctly, all one would need is an incision (without puncturing organs), and a careful adjustment utilizing gravity. |

You cannot get the bends in that situation, even if you were exposed to ridiculous pressures. You don't get the bends from the change in pressure. You get the bends because you're breathing in air at very high pressures when you're diving using scuba equipment, and the concentration of nitrogen in your blood increases. With the greater pressure, that's not a problem, it stays dissolved in your blood. But once you start reducing that pressure, you need to slowly release the excess nitrogen, otherwise little bubbles form in your blood vessels, blocking them off and fucking up your nerves something fierce. Free divers can go do and up hundreds of feet with no issue, because they never actually breathe. Whereas if you spend something like 8 minutes at over 90 feet down (4 times atmospheric pressure, you gain an atmosphere every 30 feet or so), you should make a 20 minute decompression stop at 30 feet on your way back up, and sure as shit not fly for a day or two. I'd have to check my old dive tables to be sure. But yeah, this is why aquatic mammals don't get the bends, or it's very difficult to. They've got lots of other evolved traits to deal with the pressures at depth. That said, massive rapid pressure changes will definitely fuck with your sinuses and ears.
