Berserk:

300 (movie/comic) condensed into one man. Expand armies to cover the entire world. Turn historical/fiction into fantasy. Add rape, pillaging, slaughtering, and anything in those categories into a very well done Japanese manga featured in a dark ages/medieval setting.

Basically, its about one man against extreme odds. Who is good at killing a lot of things ..regardless if they are "good" or "evil." Just if they are in his way. :X

But as of recently, its been about the new Band of Hawks ..sadface.

Its extremely dark, extremely violent, and extremely awesome.

Berserk is a manga set in the middle ages type environment and centers around one guy, the black swordsman (in my pictures) as he overcomes destiny (of dying...) and fights his way through endless hordes of demons, zombies, monsters, gods, angels, and more demons. He is known for having a huge sword that gets bigger as he gets older (though has more or less been the same sword for a long time now) and for having a callous and ever enduring nature.

The anime catalogs the first part of the main character's life and contains very little demonic influence until the last few episodes where the apocalypse happens. The next... decade.. of manga catalogs the aftermath of the apocalypse, as the manga's creator pumps out manga at a glacial pase.

I typically hate AMVs and don't know why people like them, but this video describes berserk very well. It also spoils the whole anime.
