Story behind the pic:

"At some point in 1990, the members of Mayhem moved to "an old house in the forest" near Oslo. They began writing songs for their next album, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. On 8 April 1991, Dead committed suicide in the house owned by the band. He was found by Euronymous with slit wrists and a shotgun round to the head. Dead's suicide note read "Excuse all the blood" and included an apology for firing the weapon indoors. Instead of calling the police, Euronymous went to a nearby store and bought a disposable camera to photograph the corpse, after re-arranging some items. One of these photographs was later stolen and used as the cover of a bootleg live album entitled Dawn of the Black Hearts."

If we're talking crazy black metal can't forget these two guys. Varg Vikernes and Jon Nödtveidt

Vikernes is currently incarcerated because of his 1993 conviction for the murder of his former associate Øystein 'Euronymous' Aarseth (from the influential black metal band Mayhem). Vikernes was additionally found guilty in several cases of church arsons, one of which involved Jørn Tunsberg of black metal band Hades Almighty. He received the maximum sentence in Norway of 21 years in prison, which was shortened but then restored following an escape attempt in 2003.[16] During his time in prison, he has recorded two albums (Dauði Baldrs and Hliðskjálf), which are composed of dark ambient tracks rather than black metal. His request for parole was denied in June 2006.[17] Currently, he is serving time at Tromsø Prison in Norway.[citation needed] He was eligible for parole in April, 2008 but was again denied, but he was allowed out for 1 week to visit with his family (during which time he conceived another child).

Nödtveidt was convicted of being an accessory to murder[2], in the killing of the 38-year-old homosexual Algerian Josef Ben Meddour, in 1997. He was released from prison in 2004, and restarted Dissection.

On the 16th of August 2006, he was found dead in his apartment in Hässelby, a suburb of Stockholm by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a circle of lit candles. Dissection's official website later confirmed his suicide.[3]

Early reports indicated that he was found with an open copy of the Satanic Bible, but these were later dismissed by Dissection's guitarist Set Teitan. According to him, "it's not any atheist, humanist and ego-worshiping 'Satanic Bible' by Anton LaVey that Jon had in front of him, but a Satanic Grimoire. He despised LaVey and 'The Church of Satan'." [4]

The said "Satanic Grimoire" is reputed to be the Liber Azerate, one of the publishings of the Misanthropic Luciferian Order, from which Jon Nödtveidt apparently was influenced, his last album Reinkaos's lyrics being co-written by the very same man who wrote the Liber Azerate.

On August 19th, 2006, Jon's website publicly announced his suicide.
