| you HAVE to have a voice plan for sprint. The way their services work, Voice is provisioned which gives the go-ahead for Data to provision. Besides, you'd NEVER get a fucking thing done with Tech Support (if you ever had to call) without atleast a minor voice plan. After all, their first and VERY first question is "Can you make/receice voice calls?" Now, there are some abysmally cheap voice plans with crappy minute ammonts. I'd suggest getting a half-decent 2-300 minute incoming call free (anybody that calls you is free 24/7. plan minutes are used only if you make an outgoing call outside of free night/weekend hours) plan+data which should run you about maybe 45-50 bucks a month. PM me and I'll see what I can find out if you're really interested. I used to be advanced tech for that worthless piece of telecom shit, btw. Also, before calling into tech support and waiting on hold for 45 minutes only to get transferred to advance tech; let me give some basic support advice since I'm on the whole "fuck sprint in their worthless bitch asses" kinda rant. This is for mostly PDA devices, but will also worth with a number of regular phones as well. To go about this, we need to know an important term. This term is; MSL. it is your master subsidy lock. This must be obtained from sprint. if you called in to activate your phone, you typed this number in (most likely) during programming in the form of ##XXXXXX#..it is always six digits. If you think you have it, try typing it just like above. If it takes you to a screen where you can edit your mobile number (or MDN) and MSID then you have the right number. You may also be brought to a screen that says "view, edit, cancel" as choices upon typing it in, before you get to the point where you can edit; This also means you have the right number. If you do not have this number, call sprint and ask for your MSL for your phone number. Step 1: Take your battery off with the phone on. Leave your battery out for about 2 minutes. counting to 120 really fast doesn't constitute 2 minutes.. Replace your battery. Try the service/feature that wasn't working. Is it working now? Good, you just fixed 99% of phone problems. --this is similar to restarting your computer. it fixes a buncha shit. Known as a soft reset. Step 2a; if your data services aren't working. Can you make/receive voice calls? Yes? Okay, Has it been alteast 4 hours since you first activated your phone? Yes? Okay. Dumbshit tech support questions outta the way. next thing to do; *If using a palm brand device, dial ##774#. This will bring up a PRI checksum screen Select reset to factory defaults. This will ask you for your MSL. Go ahead and enter it and select okay to reset device/etc. Basically, you want to do this. It'll restart your phone. Attempt then to access data (usually through your browser). This will cause it to reprovision your data services. This will probably fix it. If not, go to the next section. Its for all PDAs; *If using any other PDA, dial ##3282# on your dial pad. this will take you to your AAA secret stuff. You want to do menu(wherever you get your menu to appear from)->reset or something along those lines. it varies slightly from phone to phone...It will ask you for your unlock code, or MSL, at some point in time. Enter it when it askes for it. Tell it okay to whatever it wants to do. Let it restart your phone. Then access your data services, generally through a browser. This should provide your device with your Vision username/password from the network.. Step 2b; This is if your voice services aren't working. You will need the origional programming information from your phone for this. You need to dial ##MSL# (as in, if your MSL is 145666, you enter ##145666#), then you select edit, if needed, and it should give you a choice for either Mobile Number, MDN, or PTN. This is your phone number. you enter it for the field. Now, depending on your device, you won't see anyhting else on the screen at the time, or you may see MSID This stands for Mobile Station Identifier. If you do not see a space for MSID, hit next or something along those lines. This is a lot of the times your phone number if you are getting a brand new number with your phone. If you've had the number, or the phone is second hand, then you might need to enter a different number...You will need to call sprint for this number if you do not have it. Any representative should be capable of giving you this number. Enter your MSID where it says MSID. Then click next or okay. This should either restart your phone or bring you back to the view/edit/done screen. Select done if it does. Your phone will restart and should be able to make voice calls then. Step 3; something is wrong on the network, and you have to call sprint to get it fixed on their end, and will probably have to go through the bullshit above with them. But atleast you can avoid a few calls once you have all the numbers you need. PM me if I can help with anything else.
