it's definitely useful in certain contexts, especially in medicine for the time being. as soon as certain techniques become established this will disappear though. genotyping of patients and personalized medicine tailored to the individuals genes will eliminate this information from patient profiles.

the way the word is used, even in medicine, is crude and not really correct. for now it is simply the easiest way to communicate a much more complex idea.

the phenotypic differences in people only become evident when you pull two from dramatically different climates. if one were to walk from africa to, say, asia one would see a subtle gradient of change along the way that would be almost indistinguishable as it was experienced.

i'm not going to debate edward's work, which is largely supported by racist scientists, religious groups, and even white supremacists. it isn't hard to find peer-reviewed articles that rip that paper to shreds. i won't, however, pay $30 for access to quote something on here.

You seem to have your own opinion about how things are defined, buddy. A subspecies/race is an infraspecific population defined on the basis of one or more characters that distinguish its members from typical representatives of the species. That's how biologists have defined for years and that's how they continue to define it.

I'm still trying to figure out why you feel the need to lump everyone together in a single group. It's like PC bullshit to the extreme.
