thats like saying a car can't drive if it has a tailwind that is the same speed as the car is traveling.
To be honest i couldn't understand what was even being argued at first. Since its so blatantly obvious. I thought the argument was if a plane could take off with no horizontal movement at all. Like just from the lift created from the engines sucking in air heh.

Found it at Yahoo! Sports.

And in thinking about it, the chart at the bottom might as well be the collective gap between the top 10% and the bottom 10% throughout history. The lesson here is that parity is an illusion and all attempts to reach said conclusion do not get the results you think you might get.

I dunno, I actually enjoy watching people make idiots out of themselves, and read whatever crazy reasons they use to defend it.

Salacious is going to feel quite the fool when it finally clicks. =P

I remember that after all the controversy this question spawned in my (upper division, for fuck sake) college physics class, the professor just laughed (cackled, really) and changed the topic.

My college physics class had an evil Iranian professor who despised all students who were incapable of rational thought and reaching valid conclusions through a series of careful reasonings. After a hellish semester of labs and reports and daily quizzes over physics minutae....Our final, 50% of our grade, and the only question was the treadmill problem; circle Yes/No. I think the TA said that almost everyone said no and the dean made them bell curve the class average.

Looking back, that was the most fun I had in college. His sense of humor was so malicious and twisted it brought a warm glow to my heart on a daily basis.

He's always been an idiot. You should have seen him in action on the Tunare server during the Everquest days lol.

Yes, Almma the human monk that was NEVER allowed to pull for the guild because you sucked major ass. I distinctly remember you being too retarded to even watch competent guild monks pull Vindicator. They made you actually just sit in the group with the wizards rofl. I was killing shit on Tunare when you and Bellringer were busy sucking Seryne's dick. Keep believing your own press, you were nothing but a footnote of Tunare's history.

I won't argue anymore, I'll wait for Mythbusters to prove me wrong.

oh snaps. Almma just got ACID BURNNNED!!!!

seriously do people still brag about their eq skills from 10 years ago?

And by the way, the plane could take off if just the treadmill got going fast enough, because as it is rotating air 'sticks' to it which causes air flow across the wings. A rotating cylinder also creates lift.

And to keep on track, here are some pictures that are in all likelihood reposts
