| Brilliant! | I'm willing to bet it's real because my high school experience was filled with such rampant stupidity. In fact, it's a great point of pride for myself and my wife (we went to school together) that our class actually was the reason our Sophomore Social Studies teacher had to take a year off of school for our Junior year. I know this because she flat out admitted it to us when she came back when we were Seniors... and no longer had her as a teacher. It's not that we were that bad, it's that our class was that much smarter than her and we never failed to let her know it. Obligatory Pic |

+20 Internets | I think its a joke mainly because of the last paragraph. It would seem much more real had that been left out, and the joke was that the teacher really thought a kilometer was greater than a mile. Had it been real, she would have simply stated "Your child was being disruptive when I made a mistake in my curriculum so he gets detention etc etc." Why would the teacher put down her mistake for the parent to read, write a whole paragraph about how she was right and the student was wrong, then immediatly say "Although he was right..." It just reads like a joke, with the misdirection in the 2nd paragraph, then the punchline in the last paragraph. Like, its too stupid, yet too cleverly written to be real. |

+1 Internets | i've gotten in trouble for similar things even at the college level. one of my chemistry teachers was the stupidest person i've ever met in my life and yet simultaneously the most difficult grader. she was going for a phd in chemistry and couldnt even balance equations from my first semester intro to chemistry class. i got in trouble for calling her stupid in front of the class a few times and she went to the head of the department. the head didn't really care that the lady was clueless and punished me (by deducting some points off my final grade) for being rude or something. i still got an A.
