| Alot of Lazio supporters will tell you they use the straight arm salute because it's a traditional Roman salute. Hail Cesar and all that. However a certain element of their support use the straight arm salute to highlight their extreme right wing beliefs (although I'm not sure if the Nazi's were technicaly right wing?). Hence why they also take flag's with Swastikas and picture of Mousolinie to big games with Roma their city rival. The Ultras (football hooligans) of Italy are quite an interesting sub culture. Some team's Ultras are Left Wing, most noteably Livorno who idolise Comunisim (Flag's of Che Guvarra and pro Russia songs etc). While others are Right Wing, most noteably Lazio.

unfortunatelly thats very true. you cant fully imagine how much political movements have infiltrated between soccer teams supporters (mainly extreme-right as you can see). its worst than english hooligans. at least hooligans were groups of idiots who use a football match as a good reason to pick up fights. These ppl instead, use it for propaganda add to that how much the seasons/matchs are influenced by those teams with more power/money and you have the actual situation of italy's football sport. IE. pure shit Favoritisms always existed in this sport, but when you discover that your own coatch have worked against your team, it loses much of its appeal i still remember when in 2001 we won the season after 19 years. it was a week of pure senseless joy. All around in Rome you could see flags hanging out from almost every single building. Every evening in the major plazas ppl just got themself drunk and had fun. If a car honked, a mass explosion of honks would erupt and for minutes you would see dozens of cars driving honking back and forth it was crazy walk around in Rome those days, believe me. The world cup we have won last summer was nothing compared to that. There is a incredibly deep passion behind this sport in italy. but as i said, in the last years it has spiraled down into a caricature of what it was just to let you understand the insanity of that week, ill attach some pictures of the fun we had in the order: 1) the field massive invasion after the end of the last match. We had officially won and tidalwave of ppl forced their way inside the stadium in a pacific invasion to begin the party 2/3) random flags&rubbons that decorated almost every street of the city 4) massive flag hanging down from a building. You had to see the crazyness of ppl dragging that shit on the roof 5) the pinnacle of the week. over 1 million ppl gathered at the Circus Maximus for a concert from the singer who made the song we use as hymn. call us mad or stupid if you want. but no other sport is able to create such events

| unfortunatelly, they arent just that. Many of those assholes are linked to a small extreme-right political party called "Forza Nuova" of course, they dont have any real political power, but they have some influence in some zones of the city

| @Fucker This might seem a bit off-topic, but I can't imagine things have cooled down since the Gabriele tradegy either? Even more off-topic; Do you have any affiliation with any of the groups that stand on Curva Sud? Random picture to keep the thread on track.
