It is a male::female thing and a female::male thing. The only reason that I specifically dissed the black men who seek parasitic relationships is that it is they who were addressed specifically by topic. Hell, if anything, white parasites are worse. At least the black ones have enough pride not to settle for a poor fat white chick, prefer a house to a trailer, etc. Generalizations like this are never true in all case-by-case scenarios. The only thing that makes them generalization-worthy is that they occur with just enough frequency to be noted as a cultural phenomenon. The only thing that makes it racist is that I didn't mention the white guys who do the same thing or the fact that there are countless millions of same-race couples among all races who do the same thing. I stuck specifically to the black::white thing just because that was the topic, I knew I would come across as racist, and that's why I was so apologetic in the post. Thing is, all human beings of all races are equally shitty unless we use our brains and a sense of morality to overcome a childish and selfish nature. Although most of my buddies are black, I can say with honesty that I could probably go on all day about white trash who do the same or worse. Now the real question is: Why are there no analogous generalizations for asians? Think about it. We have a similar stereotype for white, black, and latino. What about the asian folks? They're human too. Also, generalizations and stereotypes should not be believed to the extent that when one meets someone of whatever bracket is covered by the stereotype that they are already judged. However, that such stereotypes exist and are widely known means that there must be at least some statistical truth to it. It's the same as saying "There is a measure of truth behind all legends." Also, let's be careful not to derail too much into a race discussion. We already have a thread for that in the tv section, and I don't want Millie to get mad and step on my nuts because I'd bet she wears heels when she does that. Thank God I'm drunk enough to express these thoughts semi-coherently. Also, I hope I don't insult Millie by insinuating that she wears heels. I actually have a theory that those who don't see the point of certain romantic notions and who were not hurt in the past to create a defensive bias are likely deficient in certain neurotransmiters such as norepinephrine and dopamine (the two most responsible for feelings of love, if I'm not mistaken -- also released heavily during orgasm in both males and females). Then again, there are those who lie about such things just to seem cool. It's balanced. Those who really do have the deficiency miss out on the best, but also the worst, experiences in life IMHO. A man who never knows the admiration of a woman who just gave birth to his child misses a lot, but a man who never loses a woman to whom he is deeply attached is blessed beyond reckoning. IMHO, the bad outweighs the good. I think the drawbacks to the hurt far outweigh the benefits of the good when it comes to this, as I have seen plenty of people be practically destroyed by the hurt but very, very few who are enabled by the good enough to make a significant difference. Don't you think this kind of mentality on your marriage may possibly affect your child and their perceptions of relationships? Better yet, do you think you two would still be together if you didn't have kids? That's great that you are content with your *current* situation, but when you think that any other alternative would simply lead to divorce, you're just rationalizing to reassure yourself.
