a small idea i have (big post)

yea umm im sorta 1st time poster sorta new here.
after a few weeks ive been thinking of an idea of an expansion
and since this is a populated forum of experienced players i would like to share this idea with you all and hope for feedback/bashes and just maybe even someone upstairs reads it and talks it over with their team and make it into an eq reality.
i love the lore of eq. i think its fascinating material and to me it would be a very great idea to see the lore not from books from our own eyes.

altho i do not know all the quotes for research from quarms death ive searched thru scripts and tried to show something.

"Zebuxoruk staggers about and looks at you drowsy, from his weakened state. 'My thanks to you. I am surprised to see you have made it here. We must get back to Norrath. The time has come for me to share my knowledge. Something is coming, a threat to us all, and the sands in the hourglass are thinning. Make haste and take me back the way you came.' ...etc

Upon returning to plane of knowledge the New Taanan Wizard's Guild researches the fabrics of magic to create time distortions..
and upon the land of Norrath, rumors of lost relics and artificats being found on the shores of the Overthere become the talk of commonfolk. A team is created to find out the truth-(no its not the league of extraordinary gentlemen). Dwarves and Gnomes dig deep into the depths of soil finding faded/torn books old weapons, and other trinkets. Also found were the bones of shissars scattered throughout the beach. After months of digging beneath the surface of The Overthere, the team has uncovered the Catocombs of the forgotten city of Chelsith-the Capital of the Shissar Kingdom. Seer Mal Nae`shi and her apprentices search through these old tunnels finding lost and forgotten magics that even the iksars of New Sebilis did not asimilate into their magic guilds. deeper into the Catacombs, Seer and her team enters a cave unlike all the other caves uncovered. Inside there lies numerous items held in cases sheilded by magics surrounded by mirrors upon the walls. The Seer's newest apprentice Solist Kinslan(one of the adventureres from the velious expedition)touched the glowing sheild protecting the items-He told the team he saw the past civilizations being destroyed. He became infused with madness-screams echoing thru the chambers-he ran to the wall, grasping onto the one of the mirrors and then vanished quick as lightning. Hours had gone by but no return of Solist until...
On the farest side of the planet Shintar Vinlail, a commoner of the Erudite Society was in the Toxxullia Forest fishing and on the end of his line he caught an old robe-he returned to the Erudin Palace to see Ghanlin Skyphire, Head of the Gatekeepers of Erudin. He recognizes the markings of the robe to be that of Sage Solist Kinslan.Stunned by disbelief he and Shintar travel to the Overthere and explain to the Seer.
Believed this mirrors to hold the power of Time Travel, teams must be created to research where does each mirror travel to and why were they created. Answers to be found.

ok from here in here the actual game could be really interesting.
under the Overthere, caves could be implemented with Dwarf and Gnome npcs (hail, gives the storyline etc) and inside the caves you also have vendors! the idea of plane of time instancing with the mirrors is what in mind for the zones.just some ideas possible.


Age of Monuments
1. You click the mirror and now travel back to a campagin where Innoruuk and his minions advancing on the Elven Forest of Tunaria. The mission:Innoruuk in capturing the Royal King and Queen thus the existance of Dark Elves is created.
2. Another mission occurs in the middle of the half-desert-forest of the city of Takish-Hiz.You and your team can see the fiery trenchline of Solusek Ro and his company.Waves of Elves casting magics as Solusek casts his own magics trying to destroy the marbel kingdom.
3. You enter the Plane of Earth. You see massive Treants hurling rocks at powerful ogres and giants entering through the portal. At the portal, Ogre Shamans channeling their power trying to create a more powerful Portal to bring the Rallos Zek. The Rathe Council trying to overturn the blockade and close the portal but their efforts fail and flee to their Power Circle for a chance to Summon the Avatar of Earth to fight against the Zek God.

Age of Enlightenment/Turmoil
4. The mirror transports your team to a dark cavern-in the corner of your eye you see ghostly lights flicker. As your eyes become more attunded to the darkness you see formations of Erudites chanting. Vazealle the Mad screeches like a banshee and the battle begins-Paineel versus Erudin.
5. You find yourself in a vast field with the sight of a town in that distance end.Upon reaching the town you see a cloaked man run out of the town. He stops and pauses.
He says,"I am surprised to see you have made it here. We must get back to the real Norrath. The time has come for me to share my knowledge. Something is coming, a threat to us all, and the sands in the hourglass are thinning. Make haste and take me back the way you came.'
He follows you-then the sky turns dark. A voice echos thru the field- The 7th Hammer shouts,"Justice meets all in time"
following the Tribunal appear...

The Age of Scale
6. Upon exiting thru the portal from the mirror you land right into the middle of "The Pit" in the field of bone.To your left Ganak, King of the Ruling Iksar nation with his army and to your left Jalad Dar and his bretheren. Who will win?
7. Not so far into the future the falling Sebilisan Empire is being attacked. Giants-Goblins-and yes Trakanon and his dragonkind.
Their missionestroy the hacthlings and the town.

So many may think well which side to we fight for?
Your team decides will play for whomever side they choose.
~If you assist Innoruuk you will be paid handsomly-If you protect the King and Queen you will rewarded for your efforts-but you will get a nice Goodbye Message from Druzzil Ro for interveining in the time space continuem(Great Scotts!121 jiggawatts pls). And so forth with the missions. and from each mission completed some possible relic/mirror shard from the mission is kept as a record of your team being there(i think of this something like the Plane of Justice Trials-how you get the Mark of Execution/Stoning etc.) Upon receiving all shards creates a a mirror enabling you to create a portal to the Plane of Magic. From here its a little sketchy on my part. I have thought about this part today. Since Druzzil Ro is a part of the Plane of Magic she is protected so to speak. So create a Zone where the zone has many traps (as Druzzil attacks). Thought about 4 corners of the zone having power sources. Knocking those out Druzzil is vunerable. As she is losing health the zone becomes unstable. the sky becomes dark with lightning. upon defeating her her plane becomes its inverse and you exit stage left. I have read some things about Eq2 and if all the Gods are dead and whatnot this still follows that path.

Also a side note: im not the smartest gaming person but the zone ideas i have for these expansion is this.
you take PoE-copy it change some mobs in it and where you enter it from potranq to Overthere and you have yourself a new zone to fight in without even creating a new zone. i think that would less time efficient than just creating a whole new set of zones. This works for the other missions as well. with really just the Plane of Magic being the fresh new zone.

Well that sorta sums up my idea for an expansion

blazar got owned right back!

problem with "Back to the Future 3" style expansion--the players can't directly change the storyline of EQ. If you, in typical sociopath fashion, ran willy-nilly fucking up the timeline in those missions not jack nor shit will be changed in-game.

Now, toss in some ridiculous Star Trek: Enterprise temporal war storyline where the players have to actually keep the timeline intact from...uhm...MAYONG MISTMOORE... and you've got something you can mold to fit eq's restrictons.

it doesnt even have to be instanced
you could keep this an open zone and keep it like 10th ring war of GD.
either way you look at it both has pos and neg.
positive for instancing-no non guild intervention,personal dkp for casual player.
neg-72 max for raid purposes

positive of open zone-more than 72 players
negative-open to disturbances from non-guild/raid players.

well iannis im not saying hey if you kill the Cazic thule in plane of fear he aint gonna be up in plane of time-i was trying to explain that if Druzzil is controlling time and people have disrupted something that was/was not suppose to happen (trying to free zeb) then intervention occurs.
i havent read much lore on mayong =(

note* the one mission with zeb would be in qeynos hills.

to say the lost dungeons of Planes of Power is interesting cuz really every expansion has been the lost continent of norrath that just suddenly appears because the fog has lifted.. or the moon that after years and years has come closers to the planet than ever before.

i was hoping for more opinions on the idea but only a view willing to say something.
not a big deal to me really
i just wanted to share an idea
truthfully im also suprised this thread hasnt been rickshawed yet.
i havent been here that long so that was my assumption heh.
but anyway since the beginning eq expansions have tried to look back on past civilizations and reminded us with their lore.
why not actually "live" that lore.

dont worry Klav its just the cool thing to do on these boards to trash someone.

Overall i think u have a good idea there with some flaws but easily worked out. The problem lies in u know the outcome of everything cause you cant change them otherwise the whole world is changed in the future.

One option is (staying with the choose sides idea) is that you have to protect the history and fulfill what needs to happen to keep Time from being altered which ultimatly (to make a reason) would cause a horrible Ripple in Time which in turns causes drastic changes to the future and changes ur existence.

i dont know its a complicated base storyline, but one im sure ppl would enjoy, hell who wouldnt wanna participate in the Wars which made Norrath what it is today.
