Is guildchat secure?

I heard a rumor today that there was a hack floating around that would let people listen in on whatever channels they wanted to, including other guilds chat. Any truth to that? I find it a bit hard to believe considering that EQIM can’t even tie in to guildchat. Events today have me wondering though.

dunno for sure, but some people in mine say that its often monitored by other guilds /shrug

To test have someone say something like "OMFG XXX mob up in Plane of XXX, OTM OTM OTM!!!" and then watch your rival guild and see if they show up there.

heres what ive seen happen, person A joins guild A and has his alt A join guild A

so far - Person A alt A Guild A all together

Person A/alt A/Guild A are together for a bit (several months) Alt A is never logged in almost never and when he is he is anon in a random zone w/ no one else. Person A leaves guild A and joins guild B (Guild b being a rival)

Person A in guild B
Alt A in guild A

Now person A in guild B lets Alt A stay in Guild A and watches the chat to see what is going on (EQW thx or 2nd puter) Alt A can do a lot, report/petition/transfer knowledge/strats anything said in guild chat that Alt A can be used by Guild B thanks to Person A

ending with - Person in Guild B uses alt A to fuck over Guild A
