uh huh

Luckily for us, I speak fluent Japenese.

"Yatta!", in English, translates to "It was funny 6 months ago". I think the expression you are looking for is "Yatto!" which means "I am a gay gay homosexual." Depending on the verbage, it could also translate to "I fart in the tub". Remember the whole Japan Coke incident? Same thing.

Two questions.

1. Is this accurate?

2. What Japan coke incident?

Hmm.. Japan Coke incident...

if i remember correctly... it was a Coca-Cola attempt at transferring their advertising campaign over to Japan... the ORIGINAL English version was something along the lines "Coke Adds Life"

which was translated to the Japanese language as "Coke Brings Your Ancestors Back From the Dead"

as you can see... this started a minor advertising fiasco...

eh, heard of the ancestor story as Coke and Pepsi... did a quick search and came up with these rumors as well... who knows whether they're truth or more Net urban legends...

The name Coca-Cola in China was first rendered as Ke-kou-ke-la. Unfortunately, the Coke company did not discover until after thousands of signs had been printed that the phrase means "bite the wax tadpole" or "female horse stuffed with wax" depending on the dialect. Coke then researched 40,000 Chinese characters and found a close phonetic equivalent, "ko-kou-ko-le," which can be loosely translated as "happiness in the mouth."

In Taiwan, the translation of the Pepsi slogan "Come alive with the Pepsi Generation" came out as "Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the dead."

In the same vein, there was the Chevy marketting of the Nova in Mexico... -0- sold, and it took them a while to realize "no va" in Spanish = "doesn't go." They changed the name to something random and innocuous, and sales took off

And don't forget the marketing of the Pinto in Latin America, which means "tiny cock".
