+40 Internets | I've been playing computer games for 20 years and online for over ten, I doubt much will change. However, I don't know if I'd be playing at this kind of level right away again. I tend to play in cycles like that. power game, break, power game, break. Its my hobby, it's what I enjoy, I can't help that. Everquest is not my addiction, gaming is. I'm not new to it like so many everquest players are. Everquest has bred an impressive army of power gamers that will romp through a standard games content faster than its creators would believe. Creating a cage big enough to satisfy us types is one hell of an undertaking. I imagine a lot of these games are going to fail on that level, and instead go for mass market appeal a la the luclin expansion (I can be a cat, whoo hoo!) or no-endgame low content gimmicks like Daoc and UO. |

| I sure hope.. WoW will live up to this expectation alot of people have put on MMORPG's since Everquest has been out awhile. It's looking like the first to actually be worth it since that. But I trust Blizzard to make a great game, it's a thing they are pretty used to..but MMORPG's..well I guess we will have to see..If they succeed however like it's looking, look for alot of players from various genre's of games emerging to play it. It's going to be on a whole different level..(*IF*)

I cannot think of any game taht has come close to the joy of UO. In the beggining it had true rogues(house key theifs, wep theifs etc), true outlaws(pk's). Nothing was permanent like in EQ. Im sure anyone that has played UO and EQ, both from the beginning would pick the old skool UO days over EQ in a heart beat. *throws up the Napa Valley/ Baja gang sign* Last edited by Crazekan : 11-20-2002 at 01:55 AM.

| Something gives me the feeling that WoW is going to be Diablo II with more dumbasses. I'd really like to see Blizzard pull off the MMORPG gig successfully, but... something just tells me it won't have as much depth as other games... we'll see, though. I think it'd be awesome to see FoH move on to Shadowbane... Furor lead his army into battle and seige all the cities and take over the world... that would pwn... haha, dreams... |

| Heh I saw the title and I couldn't resist. I'm sure foh will appear in any game where ai mastery comes into play. If a group of bright humans can get together and 'conquer' someone else's coding they will reign supreme. As soon as the competition switches to other live, breathing, thinking entities...well that's some queef juice of a different flavor. Some of us (obviously no one here) have transcended the need to keep acquiring uber loot and killing code, regardless of how difficult the encounter. Aside from the time involved, which is beyond ridiculous, ai at this time cannot outthink a human being. Eventually a solution or set course of action will be attributed to every mob. I have skimmed the boards here, and the cult level fanaticism and hero worship is really unbelievable, it's almost a phenomenon. Considering that anyone, given the time, can duplicate these feats. I guess all these thousands of posts are basically saying; 'You guys rule because you have the time (and patience) to mindlessly kill code over and over until you acquire the necessary items and like-minded people to take on the higher end encounters.' When does it get old? I came upon this site due to a link from thisisnotacommunity. I am certain that the jealous wanna-be label will be applied to me as it seems to be applied to anyone who is not sucking at the teet of you carebears. I wonder how far you would have gotten in ntov or st or ssra with other PLAYERS that could harm you in the zone at the same time. What do you do when a / shows people other than foh in a zone, and they can harm you, and you know the majority of them are sociopathic morons who could care less about anything other than the fact that you aren't on their team, and they want the same spawn as you. What happens is you learn what real skill is. You learn who you can truly trust watching your back. You find out who has balls and who is all talk, and best of all; you remember what a real rush of adrenaline is. What is the point of this long post that will fall on deaf ears? I don't have a clue. But I am at work with some time to kill and I hopped on the soapbox. I haven't played eq in a long time, and by no means do I endorse the zek servers even though they're all I ever played on. EQ is a flawed game as far as pvp goes. But at least there are actual challenges and danger there (on the zeks), which is the reason people adventure in these virtual worlds in the first place. People don't talk shit, ks, or train unless they can back it up because they know they will pay for it. What repercussions are there in your world? Becoming ostracized by the 'in' guild? It's a fucking popularity contest and that is all. I don't have anything against the members of this guild. In fact after coming here today I realized I was in beta with a few who are foh now. I am not saying (by a long shot) that there is no skill involved in taking down some of the shit that y'all do. But the day I see an foh tag accomplish something in a non-safe environment, regardless of the game, is the day I shut my facehole and admit I was wrong. Believe me, I know none of you could give a shit what I think or say...but you know deep inside that I speak the truth. |

does it really make the game so much more interesting to have PvP jack offs constantly fucking up your attempts to get farther into the game? its not like it takes skill to blow triggers or otherwise annoy other players. EQ on a zek server? its not a harder challenge; its a larger set of tools for assholes to annoy each other with. when a game with the size and content of EQ comes along that actually has worthwhile pvp and is in the same genre/style; come back and start this discusion again. and dont list FPS games: UT, Doom, etc. they dont come near the volume of content or anywhere near the RPG structure of an MMORPG. so while they are good games in their own right; they are in their own catagory.
