Yes you did a shit load amount of damage in one second and yes for THIS second your DPS was high, but on FoH forums you have many olds/news pro gamers who knows what DPS mean :

DPS until oom
DPS for whole fight
DPS using a skill (like 30sec)

"DPS useing a skill" I can use ManaBurn on one of the wizards and do even more damage, which would also be "DPS for the whole fight, using a skill untill oom (MB wizard will be oom).

I notice you put in (30 seconds), is that been an accepted part of parsers. You should tell the maker of gameparse that he needs to make sure all his parses are at least 30 seconds if he is going to calculate dps.

So the warrior that killed a 100 HP mob instantly didnt do any dps because the fight didn't last 30 seconds. He did zero dps?

Sam, DPS is an average for a period of time.

Of course this period can be 1 sec but it just make no sense.

Imagine you work in a shop, selling goods (anythiing).. you do this for years and you earn like ;

so lets say ... 15$/hours (now this is average)

Instantly = 0 seconds

Dmg x seconds = DPS

100 x 0 = 0

Assuming the skills you use have a casting time of zero, then yes.

actually.. if the casting time in zero = infinite DPS

if you want 115 000 dps for the whole fight you need to have 1 sec casting cost spell for 115 000 damage.

Actually I wanted to edit that into casting time of up to 1 second, but this is the shaw.
There's still the whole factor of Cooldowns that prevents it from being infinite DPS, take the GCD of WoW of 1.5 seconds, basically any damage you do needs to be divided at least by 1.5 seconds for the DPS value.

You open up with a Manaburn, you'll probably lead the DPS charts for a few seconds and then all the other wizards would pull ahead of you again with their third spell.
"I'm oom" is not an acceptable cutoff for DPS calculation.
