Best way to level up a guild.

I'm having an interesting discussion with Breal from EQ (SK site owner). Given FoH long history and posters and given the question is applicable to most any MMO I wonder what your all take on it is.

By taking a few to 80 at a time (and remember, the ungrouped ones can still provide you with some dps), you're getting the benefit of some level 80's sooner which will open up more targets to you and speed up the leveling of other characters as you go. In short, you're getting a big power gain on a character every couple days rather than delaying a power gain for a couple months and then getting it on each character more or less simultaneously
I can't prove that you are wrong, I just think in the case of wizards that cannot be true. At ZERO AA they put out about 10K damage in 6-8 seconds, every 6-8 seconds or so untill oom, at level 80. This may not happen with other classes (i.e. SK) so maybe considering it from an SK standpoint your plan is wise, but from a wizard standpoint I just don't think so. Is there any way you can prove the above mathematically?

While most guilds don't distribute loot that way because it's not fair to all the other players, it's the most effective way to do things. Focusing all resources on the key members to build a solid core, and then use that core to build up everyone else. Seeing as how you're playing everyone, the fairness aspect isn't something you need to deal with, instead you can simply focus on what builds your army up fastest
Breal its not "most guilds". Its NOT A SINGLE guild in EQ does it "the most effective way". Surely some tightnit group that has played together in other games or in other guilds would be more concerned with total advancement rather then individual accomplishment and done it your way. I should post that to the FoH boards and see their take on it as its applicable to all guilds in all games if true. Wonder what Yakk's position on all this is also.

What do you all think, is it optimal to level up a core group for a guild first, using all the guilds resorces for that group, and then use that group to level up the rest, or is it better to keep everyone about the same and distribute loot evenly. Assuming you trust each other and assuimng the goal is to advance the whole guild as fast as possible?

Seeing as you are your entire guild, I don't see why this is an issue.

I think it would all depend on your guilds burst dps.

If a thousand chinese farmers hit keys on the keyboard every day for 6 months, how many level 80s would you have?

You are probably the only person in the whole world who this question applies to.

Why no other guild would allow all resorces to be put into a core group? How did FoH start in the most early days?

There is no really tight group of people in any MMO (how bout gold farmers?) that trust each other enough to do it Breal's way?

Thats a nice chart on that link.

Lets make some modifications to make sure your data is correct.

(1) Calculate SamDaMan(are you SamDaMan[SDM]?)

For H= 1 2 3 4 5 6
HwSaSMM = 1.0 1.2 1.4 1.6 1.8 2.16

(2) PT = 1; if HwS < 55 or HwSaSMM < 50 or B-C > 5

C(24) = 1.95 + ((C(24)HUwP - (VD-5)) * .13); otherwise.
(3) PBSP = C(24)HUwP*HSRBDPS*H*VD

(4) SDMM = PBSP * (C(24) + 5) / (SL + (HSRBDPS*5)) * HwSaSMM

Where -
SDMM=SamDaMan Multiplier (are you SDM?) [1]

H = Hookers

HwS = Hookers with Signs

HwSaSMM = Hookers with Signs and Stupid Medieval Masks

B = Basement

SL = Soiled Loincloth

PT = Pantera Tickets

PBSP = Pantera Backstage Passes

VD = Venereal Disease

HSRBDPS = Highest Server Ranked Burst Damage Per Second

C = Computer

C(24) = 24 Computers

C(24)HUwP= 24 Computers Held Up with Plywood

Can we calculate for SDM?

You need to vent plasma into the dilithium crystals to trigger a modulated reverse chronotron phase invariance in the deflectors.

Core group might speed up your progression at first but you'll still hit a wall that requires catching the rest. It's probably a negligable amount of time saved if any at all. When whole guilds hit new games, from what I've seen, people level as fast as they can and the whole guild hits max level within a few weeks of each other. The whole time they're leveling, people are good about spreading good drops within guild to make it easier for the other people to level. That's really the best you can ask for unless you're running a sweat shop or something.

FoH began as just Furor, by himself, with 32 boxes and 32 secondaries. Back in those days he hadn't yet recruited the rest of us, and so obviously, this meant augmentative surgery. Furor couldn't afford to get extra arms surgically attached, so he fashioned robotic arms out of a paperclip, a can of tuna (water-packed, not oil-packed), six yards of silly putty in a basket weave, a titanium rod, and five clothespins. He built six of these arms, and attached them to his torso using a small knife and some twine. Eventually they became usable, once the muscle and nerves had formed around them. It is a little-known fact that Stan Lee based the Doctor Octopus character off of Furor back when they served together in the Civil War, but that's irrelevent.

I assume your experience has been roughly similar? Tell me, because I'm very curious: how did you get around the opposable thumb issue with the clothespins? It took us six Furors before we got that one right.

FoH didn't have server firsts until Furor switched to oil packed albacore.
