I piss on the back wall, just above the water level. If I'm tired or drunk I'll sit down, facing the cistern. Its quite relaxing, and with some practice you can slide into it after the stream has already started flowing.

Nah, you can point them back behind you. Sometimes requires you to pull your pants down to your ankles, depends on the toilet. I usually only do this at home, occasionally in a cubicle.
