It's a completed retarded idea that will amount only to temporary cock-sucking, just in a matter of giving internets. Rep systems have been tried and removed from many boards for the same damn reasons and this board will be no different.

Another board I frequent has a great system. You can give individuals as many + and - internets as you like but only one per post. And your user-name goes under the post, along with the +/- you gave.

Then on your profile all your internets transactions are listed as well as your own +/- ratings, which are separate rather than added together. So you can tell who has -10 internets from a total of 10 votes, and who has -10 from 200 positives and 210 negatives.

"Rep systems" don't have to be superficial. There are plenty of user moderated post rating systems that work just fine.

As someone gets a negative rating from you it could lower the weight of their opinion. If you are constantly giving someone a negative rating the value of their modifications go up and down.

So really, if the reputation was a value that was different for every single person and each post was then calculated to have some score based on your worth of whatever votes it had, you could then use those scores as a pretty good filter, either of a user, thread or post.

Obviously there is no such thing as a rep system that is the same for everyone that acts as a general rule of thumb for everyone. That's why this one is funny, superficial and fluff. It is also obvious that posting something argumentative or asshattish will yield more negatives than positives, as well as people being trigger happy on the thumbs down and reluctant for thumbs up.

Simmer down, nobody likes you any less than they did before.

TLDR version: WAAAAAH
