Didn't happen in my flight, but this kid got in trouble by the Dorm Chief because he supposedly 'wasn't working with the group', so the TI made him be his own flight and he had to call out all the orders and cadences for himself. He even had to be his own chow runner. Pretty funny shit.

I have a bunch of great basic training stories. There was a tiny little Jewish kid named Weisgrass that was in the medical rehabilitation platoon (MRP) the same time I was. He had what was termed "sling palsy". His line coach for the firing range told all the recruits to tighten the sling of their rifle down as tight as they could on their arm when they went out to dry fire (practice shooting without ammunition). So ol' Weisgrass was out there for hours on end with what was basically a tourniquet wrapped around the upper part of his arm. It only took about a week of this before he completely lost control over his hand. Every morning in MRP you would see him straining as hard as he could to try and point his finger, or to raise his hand at the wrist. Last I saw of him he could actually grip things if his hand was hanging down.

When I was in 6th grade my class had an agenda. The agenda was created so that students could call out (as in a court system) those that did something that they felt was not allowed in some fashion. And, those that were deemed guilty by the the class would pay the price via suspended time, meaning you would lose all recess points until you paid it off in detention. The issues would be brought up, by a teacher in a mock-court setting with the teacher dealing with specific issues by simply asking the students to visibly show what agreed or disagreed with using hand motions. What ended up happening is that the popular people would simply trounce on those that didn't hold the same position. No matter the issue, the majority would often agree with the issue not based on merit but because of popularity. The rep system here is no different.

The rep system here is totally stupid and is really only enacted because there is little other option. Users that stand out, such as Wolfen, gain my respect without the aid of a superficial rep system. And, any users that create a niche for themselves, EXCLUDING those that are popular simply because of position held, command the respect of the community naturally. I am gaining negative reps because I am going against the decision of the popular and those negatively repping me are doing only to fit in with the lemmings that are following it.
