How much would income taxes have to go up anyway, by 10%? So someone currently paying 20% would end up with maybe 22%? (less, I suppose, because of tax brackets)

Let's not forget that lower inflation would make the country more attractive for foreign investors and might hold off the pricing of oil in Euros. Long-term, this should be a no-brainer... and if you have a significant net worth, why would you care about tiny short-term gains?
we have been at like a steady inflation of about 3 percent for over 20s years now under republican policy.. talk out of your ass more? It was under the democrats (not clinton) that we had wildly spiking inflation all the time.

Bingo! Actually, this roughly describes economic policy under Bill Clinton. It's hard to find fault with the economy under Bill. That was why I initially supported Hillary. The problem with the Clintons was all the drama and scandal and back-room dealing, which I don't think has changed given their behavior in this election. It's probably worse now. They've been around so long, they probably owe (and have promised) every Tom, Dick and Harry on the planet. And I think Obama is smart enough to chose wise people to help him with the economy.

Newsweek has an article on how things work on Obama's campaign staff: The O-Team

A little lengthy, but worth reading.

You're an idiot. The Democratic party was the party of segregation. Nice revision of history to suit your political goals.

From George Wallace's wikipedia page, bolded for emphasis:

Quote:
George Corley Wallace Jr. (August 25, 1919 – September 13, 1998), was a United States politician who was elected Governor of Alabama as a Democrat four times (1962, 1970, 1974 and 1982) and ran for U.S. President four times, running as a Democrat in 1964, 1972, and 1976, and as the American Independent Party candidate in 1968. During the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, he rose to fame as a symbol of bigotry.

Oh come the fuck on, it's pretty funny that someone trying to point out that Republican's are racist uses George Wallace as an example, the very definition of a Southern Democrat.

You think it's inappropriate to point out something that stupid?

Yeah that was stupid of him, but to try and say that either the Dems or Republicans were solely responsible for segregation or bigotry is fucking stupid.

Racial segregation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
After the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery in America, racial discrimination became regulated by the so-called Jim Crow laws, which mandated strict segregation of the races. Though such laws were instituted shortly after fighting ended in many cases, they only became formalized after the end of Republican-enforced Reconstruction in the 1870s and 80s during a period known as the nadir of American race relations. This legalized segregation lasted up to the 1960s, primarily through the deep and extensive power of Southern Democrats.
Republicans were not in power and had little influence in the South from 1860-1960.

No, because once they were discovered, McCain fired them.

Obama lifting the cap on payroll taxes (social security), will take out an extra 12% of anything you make over $97,500.

He says that only 6% of American's make over $97,500, so it doesn't qualify as a tax increase on the middle class. This number represents personal income and not household income, in which case over 15% of households make over $100k/yr.

Personally, I like to look at these numbers, where it shows that 19% of white, single-earner households make over $97,500/yr. To say this isn't a middle class tax hike, equates all of the working professionals and managers to celebrities, professional athletes, and CEOs (you know, the actual rich people).

This shit again?? Are you really so stupid you don't know how the two respective parties have changed over the years? Do you not know why the parties were split like they were post-Civil War, and it was based solely on geography, not ideology? That it was WHITE CONSERVATIVE SOUTHERNERS that supported segregation, Jim Crow, and fought Civil Rights? Did you fucking sleep through all of American History class?

did McCain publicly denounce them? isnt that the standard we're working with now? shouldn't his humanitarian views be called into question because he was associated with them?
