| Eve Online: Newbie Friendly??? So, I know pretty much next to nothing about this game but while browsing MMORPG.com i see they have a 14 day trial for the Trinity expansion... It looks pretty nice and seems interesting. Can anyone share some details about what the gameplay is like and what the ultimate goal is. Also, is it even plausable to join this late in the game and still have fun??? Any input would be great for a starter, thanks

| Wow. I have no idea how the hell you could possibly miss the two threads, which are at almost 3000 and 9000 replies each, and contain a vast wealth of information. It's not like one of them hasn't been on the front page for over a year now. |

| Yeah, I wish this board had a 9000 post thread just below this one on Eve Online. Or even the ambigously titled thread just below the one with 9000 replies called FoH's Guide to Eve Online. edit: Fucker Kad. ![]() |

+32 Internets | I just re-read my first post in the FOH guide. It seems pretty solid. I haven't played in a long time, so I don't know about much of the new changes, but it's a pretty good read to familiarize yourself with the basic mechanics. |

As an aside: I used to be a mathematics major. I am anal retentive without question. I am a gamer. I am by profession a computing expert (ha!). I loved M.U.L.E. I enjoyed (really) almost all the Infocom games. I found EQ1 interesting and engaging. EVE defeated me early on.

+7 Internets | Hey, when you're making a character, if you're the minimaxing sort, you might do well to check out this publically available Goonfleet wiki guide to character creation. |

| In the vein: I am a completist by nature. I thought that the draw system from FF8 was not bad and spent hours learning to abuse the subsequent junctions. I graphed out Zell's limit break by hand. I enjoyed EQ1. I love space games, and I own a ton of them. I used to be a mathematics major. Played EvE for sixish month sand then couldn't stand to log on anymore.

+8 Internets | Yeah, but I tried reading those a while back, and it's like it's another language. I been doing mmos for like 10 years now, and it's all gibberish to me in those threads.

+8 Internets | I memorized it, and knew how to drag it out to the full length of time it gave me, and still finish with a finisher every time. Thank you, Tonberry.

+2 Internets | I am a min/maxer. I have a BS and MS in mathematics. I am a database developer. I was in the US Submarine Force for 10 years, and have spent upwards of 48 hours straight staring at a blank screen lsitening to white noise I used the draw system in FF8 until everyone had 99 Ultimas junctioned to everything I still play Minesweeper to see if I can clear Expert in less than 89 seconds. And I played Eve for three months and uninstalled out of boredom.
