Guild Internet Tough Guys

No matter what the game, you always end up having one of these guildies that has to tell you all about his cage fighting/wresting/nut bashing that he says he does in his spare time. They generally get mad easily and resort to threatening to beat you up over the internet.

Great example of the kind of douche bag I am talking about. He posted a recruitment drive on a realm forum and basically his advertisement was based on how fucking great he thought he was.

I know exactly what you mean. Apparently back in late 1998 right before EQ was released Sony distributed applications to individuals to prove their internet toughy guy prowess, and those that were accepted became the leaders of various Uber Guilds across servers.

Not necessarily Furor, but many many of the top end guild leaders in EQ exhibited an attitude that I would classify as similar to the internet tough guy phenomenon. I'd say more so among guilds that were the top of their server, but maybe a step or two behind the interserver pool.
