Is this supposed to be condescending?
The days of waiting an hour with "LFG" on to actually make progress in a game passed a long time ago. Is it any wonder why this game was DOA? One of several failures.

There has been alot of solo content in this game since launch. VG failed for alot of reasons, but that wasnt one of them.

Not to mention that if you're one of the great solo classes (Necro, Sorc, etc) you can do a lot of content intended for small groups or in some cases even full groups -- solo.

not it was serious, and just because a game has alot of group content has nothing to do with sitting LFG if made correctly and options are involved (which in EQ and FF that I used as examples it was not an option).

If you think this is the reason VG failed you are sadly mistaken. And if you think this is the reason wow has so many subs I would say you are mistaken again. Hence the point of my post.

FYI about your condescending remark, I currently play WoW not VG...

I would say a majority of WOW sub's come from the fact they could log in to play and not have to group to get exp.

It takes me about 5-10 minutes to form a group upon logging on. I usually get a couple of people from my friends list, someone in my level range who has their lfg flag on, and then I advertise in regional chat that we're LFM.

It's become even easier with this free month / exp bonus. Hell, there were 60 people in Vol Tuniel last night. I've never seen more than 20. It was the first time I've ever had to leave a dungeon in VG because it was too crowded.

I always find it funny when I see people in regional chat bitching about not finding a group, with their lfg tag off, while two whole groups worth of people are advertising lfg.

Yeah, a lot of folks mistakenly blame game design issues for their lack of social skills.

All of this arguing about LFG and grouping in Vanguard is pretty moot when, on their most-populated server at prime time on weekends, the "LFG" list has a level 38, 25, 42, 7, and a 15 on it all night, and that's it.

haven't played the game in quite some time, but this is one of the reasons why i quit playing. all of my friends quit and then it was almost impossible to put together a group and get anything done. i can't speak for how it is now, but that was definately one of my biggest gripes about the game when i quit, a lack of people (of course again this was before the server merges).

i also played a sorcerer and did not like the nerfs they made to that class. sorcerers were awesome when the game was first released.

Sorcs remain awesome. Best nukers in game and one of the easiest classes to level because they kill so many so fast. In demand by almost any raiding guild. You should check out the game during the free trial for old subs (until Jan 15th? or somthing.

On Xeth, the second most populous server, there were 25-40 people on with their lfg flags up throughout prime time last night. No offense, but I call shenanigans on your post.

You are correct, and I was wrong. I had quit playing VG about a week ago, before the "freebies" started returning, for one thing. Also, I hadn't adequately educated myself on the "LFG" system. I was going to the LFG screen ("O") and pressing the "Search" button (which seemed logical, of course). This button seems to only list those LFG on there that actually pressed the "I am Looking For Group" button on that screen. If you do the good old "/ all lfg" (or do an Advanced Search on levels 1-50), the number is actually 25+. My mistake.

You really can't go by the LFG tag (or system).

I've found the best order is:
1. check friends list, see if they want to group
2. yell for group/looking for more
3. check LFG
4. randomly spam people of that class and level and ask if they want to group.

99% of the time, you WILL find somebody who isn't tagged that will join you. People are just lazy. Same thing with yelling.

There really are a lot of people looking for groups. They're just harder to find (and idiots for not using the tag, I agree).
