[VG] Producer's Letter

The people I see saying negative things now are actually playing the game in its current form and giving thier experience from what I read.

It is not jayrebb or some other troll just throwing out insults. It is people discussing their experiences in the game played this week.

Sorry if you can't handle the opinions of other people, but that is what this board is about. Yes earlier on people were just being dicks because they thought it was funny, but now you are bitching about people talking about real experiences they just enoucnter in the game within the last 48 hours or so?

Telling people to not post their actual in game experiences at the present time goes against what this board is about IMO. If you want fake glowing all positive reviews go read some gamer magazines.

Me myself I am not currently playing VG but I like to keep an eye on it in case i mioght play it again in the future so I appreciate the honest post about its current state. I don't think any of the last few negative posts have been trolls at all.

Not saying that at all, my apologies if it came across that way. All I am saying is, like you I keep an eye on it, and I actually still do play it, and the things I see here alot of times are things that are not posted on any tech boards or forums, and I find it strange. I was not accusing anyone of trolling. Vg has tons of issues, just the ones I read seem very made up is all.

Hmm i just took a peek at the Official VG forums and saw posts of every issue i see listed here. Need me to link them?

And just to be clear I am not bashing VG or arguing it is bad or good, I am arguing against any form on censorship or being non honest about reviews of people actually playing the game. It is why I read this board to get real information on games from real gamers as I do not have time to try every game every patch myself but I do have MMOG ADD and play them all at different times (including VG which i have played since beta2 until about 3 months ago off and on), usually based on feedback from here. (currenly back in WoW with mistwalkers this week haha)

To each their own. Not a big deal, I choose to actually try something myself before I take anothers word on it, especially in gaming because people are so picky about what they like and so forth. Anyhow thanks for not turning this into some flame induced derail, just a difference in opinions =p

Oh I agree I try to do the same, but I am 37 years old and married with a fulltime job. I just cannot try every game out there every patch or month to see how things are going. In a large part I have to rely on the opinions of others.

No you cannot take just 1 opinion as gospel, but when 80% of the people lean in one direction, it is usually for good reason.

Hopefully you were not being sarcastic = ) because I was not trying to flame you or be a dick. We simply did just have a difference of opinion.

Now back to more current VG opinions = ) Because I am getting closer to trying it again.

I started playing VG again this week and i've been having a blast. there are still alot of issues but overall i think its a fun change of pace. I logged in my 20 bard on Seradon. I have had no trouble finding groups for CIS, Skwala, and Anthill so far. First time in a long time ive had fun playing with a group. Everyone ive met is alot more mature than most people in WoW. I think thats because if your willing to put up with all of VG shit, then you most likely arent new to MMOs and youll take the good with the bad. If you are coming back i offer one piece of advice. Get the reindeer asap and go to a general goods vendor get a rift shard and hit up every riftway you can. this will save you lots of time once the holidays are over. Anyways, hit me up on Seradon if your playing, my name is Hoffren 25 bard.

Someone explain how to get the reindeer and how the rift shards work?

The reindeer is a flying mount that can be picked up in the various large cities. There is a reindeer flying master or something like that near a christmas tree in town, just ask for directions from players and talk to the master once you find him. As for the riftways they are basically transportation stones allowing you quick access throughout the world. You need a shard for each time you use the riftway so grab some off a general goods vendor anywhere. then you just need to visit each riftway once to unlock it. The Riftways should be represented by a dot on your map so they are easy to find. hope this helps.

Easiest place to get the reindeer is Tanvu. Guy is right by big tree in the north-center part of the walled town.

Just wanted to echo this statement. Played a lot up until game update 2 or so and did not experience any mob under the world problems, warping mobs, etc. I guess these could be issues caused by one of the latest patches, I'll guess I'll see soon enough. Point is, these are not epidemic issues with VG.

Just for a personal example - which of course caused me an XP-losing death - go to the southern pass entry of Tharridon's Scar (river side). There are two Hobgoblin Grunts (pretty sure that's the mob) who *ALWAYS* spawn inside the cliff wall there. This game has been in "final development" for at least two years. How the fuck do you not move two mob spawn points in two years?

I may be a picky bastard (I used to be an Expert Witness in hundreds of court trials, where a single mis-placed comma could fuck you up), but this sort of shit just speaks of an overall complete lack of any pride in their work by these developers.

I saw that "Boronir" on some chat channel in-game the other night. I wondered whether it was some creative fellow LoTR fan or just Legolas_lol_moron_93458038. Glad to see it was the former.

Definitely sounds annoying, but put it into perspective. The game world is huge, and if it's not preventing you from completing a quest or something, can't you just go somewhere else? Just seems like a very low priority fix considering all the other issues with the game. It would be extremely easy to fix though so I see your point.
