This: WTF???????? - Vanguard @ The Druids Grove® might be one of the reasons so few people play druids. I had actually been enjoying the class pretty much, up to level 19. A bit of nuking, DOT'ing, HOT'ing, healing, runspeed, useful buffs, etc. Now I get home from work and start reading this shit, and start re-thinking where to spend my entertainment hours.

I realize this Class Lead, Sokiri, is highly thought of in the community (and a guildmate to a few of you posters here), has an active mind, and is thoroughly engaged with the class designer at SoE (I'm guessing there's only one left these days). I can even - sometimes - overlook her writing style, which makes her look like a Third Grade dropout (yes... another... one... of those... complete... fucking... morons... that think "..." is normal English grammar).

But even a good Class Lead like Sokiri can't deal with this "Avair" guy, who appears to be a complete newbie to MMORPGs and is just fucking around changing everthing about the whole damn class, just to justify his job. This leaves out the entire disaster of all of this crap being included in this latest "mini patch" when it wasn't supposed to be. Yes, Virginia, that lone QA guy at Sigil has long since been fired. Talk about Amateur Hour.

kcxiv or tad, do you know of any halfway-decent solo questing guide? I'm hearing all about cis or tsang or TK or VT, so I know where to go dungeon-wise, but it's been a bitch trying to find good quest areas 20+.

There's no way I'll be playing this game past the first "free" month. It was worth the $30 box cost for some fun and being able to explore a big, new world, though.

My last 15% XP to 20 took three hours. Why? Mobs *INSIDE* terrain all over the place, caster mobs (humanoid) that can chain-cast nukes at full speed even when running behind a +50% speed wolf-druid, mobs that automatically get to chase players at 110% player speed whether the player has no buffs or +50% speed buffs (that shit is just lame-ass, lazy fucking design, kids), mobs that re-spawn ten seconds after you kill them (and insta-aggro of course), the depressingly low population, etc.

Ah well, the druid is parked at 20. I'm thinking of trying the DK for a week, then something else. At least I'll be able to tell the guildmates in WAR next summer that "Yeah, I played Vanguard".

I don't think people who have that writing style are necessarily unintelligent, it's just a bad habit people get into when making posts on forums. These sorts of people tend to just spew things out as they come, with the ellipses representing a pause in thought. Doesn't necessarily mean they don't understand basic grammar, just that they don't approach forum posts the same way they would a PHD dissertation. It definitely annoys me though heh. I have a different problem, I edit pretty much every freaking post I make because I think of something pertinent after I hit post reply.

you just brought back a whole bunch of memories. can't decide if i really want to try this game out again or not. something tells me it's going to be like a really bad hangover, where you tell yourself you'll never drink again but then find yourself out 2 nights later tying another one on.

Hmm, perhaps it has changed since I played but I don't remember the mobs always running 110% the speed of the player. I know they were certainly faster than 150% base speed, but as long as they didn't get a hit on me I could generally outrun most mobs on a fast mount.

Well, the ping issue seems to have been fixed in APW. I never went over 200 today which was damn awesome. WE not once had to camp out and back in so the ping can ease up.


I dont know how the overland zones are though. I havent seen anyone complaining about them so thats cool.

I also frapped a video of us killing Malfunctioning X, i may post it later when i turn it into a youtube video or something. The mob was blued out though as i am locked out becuase i killed him lastnight.

Some leveling areas (all mainly in Qalia)-- +/- a level here and there. Most areas have a lot of Solo quests.

20-22 Skralwra Rock/North of CIS - Dark Elf outpost (Hathor Zhi?)
22-30 Cotoerie Infinieum Sanctury or Ruins of Trengel Keep (Thestra)
30-33 Pantheon
30-35 Vol Tuniel (Thestra -- has an endgame shuriken for monks that I still need to get)
33-34 Zossyr Hakrel
35-37 Karrus Hakrel/River Palace
38-40 Tar Janashir/Arena Area (Qalia) -- Greystone (Thestra)
40-42 Xenn area
43-44 Razad
45+ Swamp areas in Thestra -- flordiel, Itch, Vursog Moor/Nusibe Necro/Rahz/Afrit -- in Qalia and of course APW

CIS, ROTK and Vol can all be pretty long so its good to break it up. There are a lot of other places to level

I got bored last night and played a Paladin to level 7 last night.

Good times. Still a lot of bugs in this game with mobs in the walls or in the ground.

Another thing I am sure everyone else has noticed, the patching is still absolutely horrible in this game. I am relatively certain every substantial patch for the game had to itself be patched.
The patches always seem to break something or many somethings, it is just incredulous that this is still the norm after all these months. This is another reason why VG wont recover, everything just smacks of half baked, even when they spend so much god damn time on the last update. Plain and simple, with the current manpower on the game it won't make a comeback, because to turn it around you need to impress the hell out of people, and this just ain't cutting it.

This, as well as the complaint fromt he guy above him are things Ive not experienced. Ive never once had a mob attack me that was under the world, or bugged and not visible somehow, not saying it hasnt happened to anyone just saying ive played quite a bit and never not once have I seen this.

Anyways, I wish those of you that would never have a good thing to say about vg because for some reason or another it crushed your dreams would just let it go....let it go. We all know by now how much you think the game sucks and will never recover, save your breathe as I am sure most everyone here already knows what plagued vg early on and most of that is gone now, every MMO has issues and we can start a MMO nitpick thread if you guys want. Just drop the same old song and dance, it really does get old.
