+166 Internets | It's not illegal and as I'm not religious, there really is no moral/ethical conflict. They could start a 'virtual child rape and murder' guild for all the Flying Spaghetti Monster cares. As a matter of personal taste though? Fuck those guys. But then again, I found the "Hot anime chicks" thread to be one of the most disturbing, lowest points that FoH screenshots had ever gotten. Even the pedo threads were okay because we were all fucking around and mocking people. The number of people who jerked off to the HAC though made me cringe. Ultimately? Different strokes I guess. Blizzard will do what they feel is financially best for them. There's nothing illegal about it and I doubt anybody is going to cancel their account because another guild on some shitty server is filled with 150 guys all pretending to be 6 year old girls and copy/pasting shit from horrible slash fanfic. If they feel 'allowing' this kinda shit will hurt their image, bye bye. Though, didn't Sony ban that one chick who posted a bunch of torture fantasies on her website about her EQ character? I remember the main defense being "But you have dwarves cut in half hanging upside down from meat hooks in game..." Ah well.... |

| Blizzard took a lot of heat for the issue involving a gay guild recruiting in open channels.. I think they will weigh this decision heavily. At any rate, the people are disgusting and recruiting in open forums is borderline. They didn't engage in any activity though, so it's not a clear call. What they do in their own guildchat is their business though, and Blizzard should not exercise their rights to ban anyone for anything because of what they talk about 'privately'. |

| I'm with Mist on this too. Its disturbing as hell, but legally they are doing nothing wrong. I say Blizzard should ban them, as well, but Blizzard never does anything I want them to so in all likelihood this will continue. -Aamina |

| Well I was reading the original thread but it was just deleted. IMO, if consenting adults want to role-play in private channels, regardless of the subject matter, it's their right to do so (in an ideal world). From what I read, the guild in question has a pretty thorough application process that takes age into consideration (underage children cannot join the guild). If a minor lies on the application then obviously problems start. Should the guild be punished if they were under the impression that everyone listening is an adult? I'd say that the same as blaming an adult for cybering with someone who they thought was of age, but turns out the other person is 12 or something. Of course it gets complicated when you thought that 12 year old was a 24 year old roleplaying a 12 year old. |

Big difference between making an attempt to stop it even if that's unsuccessful and just letting it happen. | |

+166 Internets | I think the reason blizzard gave for disbanding the "Gays only" guild was because it was discriminating. It's like their stance on "Christian only" guilds. You can form but you can't advertise on public forms. Seeing as how this guild apparently doesn't discriminate at all... |
