if you read part of the thread on ravenholdts boards before it was deleted youd find that people on the server's outrage was a lot to do with recruiting was stepped up once they found out someone was below age.

guild leader also allegedly solicited cyber sex from a 12 year old whom she knew at the time to be 12 and said "its ok im 23" in response.

I don't see your point. I see a guy that has a previous record for having sex with a minor though. It's at the end of the article. Under the Jessica Lunsford Act, all sex offenders with a prior record must comply with Predator Registration Laws. But it took until the girl went missing that everyone realized his prior record. This shows a fault in the checks and balances of that system.

It also shows that we don't know who Blizzard allows into the game. It could be a past predator with an established record. They are obviously not screened beforehand even though the public databases are available.

On a rational note, the guy had these thoughts. He acted upon them in the past. He continued in that vein and they wound up with a missing girl who it seems they found before anything bad could have happened.

It's also been pointed out that posts have been deleted that offered alleged proof of a 12 year old being in a guild that endorses this activity.

I think the article is evidence to show that there is no good that can come from allowing blatant advertising of this fetish in a virtual envioronment where children are encouraged to play with the Teen label.

People were arguing that it's just a thought, they aren't doing anything with those thoughts. Yet the article says differently. I certainly wouldn't trust anyone from Abhorrent Taboo to pass on an opportunity either.

Having an odd, fucked up fetish isn't illegal. No excuses, but if someone of legal age wants to cyber as if they are underage that is fucked up but it is not illegal. If, and only if, an actual underage person is involved will it become illegal. Simply having underage people in the game is not enough imo. There are underage people in the real world too. I equate guildchat with someone's home. What goes on there should stay there and only people invited should be witness to it. As long as they keep it there, great. I don't even have a huge problem with them saying 'this is what we do and if you are of legal age and like it to, then let's chat'. Blizzard's forums are obviously not the place to do that though, and Blizzard has enough cause to delete the forum posts and ask them to not post that again. It should end there though.

In summary: if consenting adults and only adults are involved.. fine. I don't care. It's fucked up, I probably wouldn't ever do it myself.. but it's not illegal.

There's good enough reason and stories to show that it would be in Blizzard's best interest to be more proactive with this before the place turns into the cesspool that Linden Labs is.

As for my personal thoughts on it, this is a discussion after all, right? People get banned for cheating and swearing every fucking day in that place and the CS forums are full of heehee'ing in the hapless sucker's face, yet in the meantime, oh there's NOTHING wrong with allowing pedophiles to assemble because it's not illegal until they actually screw some innocent kid.

Oh, but you did. In the same post. These 2 issues are NOT the same. Ageplay between adults is NOT the same as a 26 yr. old trying to meet a 15 yr. old. Until someone submits evidence that it did happen then nothing illegal has occured. End of story.
