SOE to own VG - Sigil fires employees

Ah hell, so what if its not deserving of another thread.

From F13.net - Usefully Cynical Commentary

Quote:
The axe finally fell. It was only a matter of time, I suppose. And while many of you may try to spin this to make SOE look bad, apparently this wasn't really their doing. You see, SOE doesn't own Sigil. It doesn't own Sigil now and they won't own them tomorrow. But they do own Vanguard. What fate awaits that game? I don't know. Don't particularly care either.

But I do know that at approximately 4:30PM today, Sigil employees were told to meet outside. At which point they were terminated. On the spot. By whom? Doesn't seem to have been Brad McQuaid, if it was, nobody is talking. But that doesn't seem like something he'd do. But I suppose the executioner is irrelevant since most folks secretly want it to be SOE and it wasn't. As it stands, people were told to come back tomorrow to do their paperwork and some may get hired by SOE.

I contacted SOE since I'm not in the business of burning bridges or spinning news and they had this to say:

"...an announcement is forthcoming tomorrow."
Its a worthy source, don't go flaming me for posting another 'rumor'.

What about Brad? was he fired?.

Or is he in the Bahamas right now with all the monies made from the scam that was Vanguard?

Well all I can say is we'll see tomorrow whether this is true or not.

Is that blog really credible? I've never seen it/heard of it so I have no clue.

I feel sorry for the employees of this company for being cursed with such an incompetent tool such as brad at the helm of this game.

If this is the case, I'm sorry for the employees who spent the past 3-5 years of their lives pouring their lives into a game and company that really didn't live up to the expectations that everyone had for them.

My thoughts exactly. He should be ashamed of himself.

F13.net is a fairly common place for devs to talk on their forums about game development. Its credible.

From the other thread:

By 'Sigil Employees' is that 'ALL Sigil Employees'?

Edit: Besides the big-wigs that is.

Not a big surpise but sucks for them to lose their jobs.

What would Sigil need employees for with no MMO for them to work on? =P

First person to express content over this (if it's true) gets my personal "asshole of the year" award. This is pretty depressing news, whether or not you're a fan of VG. Eomer said it best.

It's time for the final scene where Brad is seen in his brand new Ferrari while driving into the sunset laughing his ass off.
