But I doubt this will be dropped so soon. Its drama, and people love drama.

Seriously, those people who did not keep their jobs, well it does suck. It always does, but Brad didn't destroy their lives. He gave them what could have amounted to a great opportunity, but simply did not make the cut. That really is just life. What is important when things go wrong is how you deal with it yourself, and how you treat others. Pawning off the firings to... well, anyone other than himself was simply classless. The end result would have been the same, but sometimes the way you do things does make a difference. Oh well, best of luck to everyone involved.

I am sorry for the losses at Sigil. I wish it could have turned out different. I wish for the best for all those who lost their jobs and those that moved on. I hope to see what your next project will be.

Good shit. Although I loved Sebilis the most when it had a massive community. I loved that people would shout "Disco LF Enchanter or Sotaris (I was a bard)." I loved the fact that there were 10 different camps with their own pros and cons. I loved the fact that I got excited on every damn "kor" in hopes it had a Siblisian Berserker Cloak"

| Gnome.. InGame VG community wasnt too bad. I met more "good" people that retards. The /ooc was still stupid but not as bad as WoW's. I played a Warrior in EQ, Boxing Cleric, while solo is important (for everyone). Grouping should be more efficient. Yet in "modern" MMO everyone should be able to solo, for when they cant/wont/dont group. VG i play Sorcerer. In a "smart" game you are not "forced" to craft and you never should. WoW Dark Iron is stupid, it should drop from elementals, and adventurers (us) sell it to crafters (them), who love just "making stuff" thats "interaction". Then buy back the finished products. Also again, what did i say about the "RvR" "A Game" and "CR" ? No more Fear/Hate 8H CR/Breaks. And no "instant restart" either. You fucked up, lick your wounds, regroup, go try again. |

| This is going to be an EXTREMELY presumptious post, because I really don't know Brad McQuaid that well (only that he didn't even look at me the one time he signed a poster /shakefist ). But to hell with it, I'll make it anyway.I get the vibe this Multi-Million Dollar MMO racket just isn't his thing. With the type of game he likes to make, it's just not feasible fiscally. I think he should look into the growing indie MMO market. I think a little niche game with less than 100k people might work well for him. The creative freedom is there because there's less risk. You don't need ridiculous support staff and you can really tailor the world to be alterable. Having live effents and a world that changes much like really really old school EQ was. A living breathing fantasy world...just a rather small one .

+1 Internets | Elidroth I am sorry you lost your job due to no fault of your own, and I hope sincerely that you will eventually land on your feet. But this stuff is news and people want to discuss it. If this was a simple matter of a company going belly up simply because of market conditions then yeah nothing more can be said about that. But we are dealing with a man who, on his own choosing, put himself out there in the publics eye. Had controversial ideas. Promoted them in his way. Alienated people with his approach. Apparently did a massive mismanagement of funds, He is going to get scrutinized. If you want the good, you have to be prepared for the bad, otherwise he should have stayed out of the limelight. And one big hit I hope he will always be remembered for is his total cowardice in dealing with his employees. I would assume he felt bad about what needed to be done. THAT parking lot meeting was his last chance at retaining some dignity. That was his chance to make emotional and supportive statements. He had his chance and he took the low road out of dodge. No sympathy here from me nor does he deserve a pass. |

| Obviously Brad enjoys the creative side of MMOs, not the production/managerial side (isn't that the reason he left SOE in the first place?); why the hell he chose to run the game, though, and not appoint someone more experienced in that field is beyond me. |

Back in August, 2006, the trademark "Set Yourself Free" (and the other one, I forget what it's called) was registered by Sony Online Entertainment LLC, NOT Sigil. The Schild interview with the ex-Sigil employee alleges that Brad was absent for about the last 8 months. Which brings this date in line with the registrations. It's a theory, but considering the dates, it makes sense that SOE was gearing up for the last phases of the takeover back then, before even Sigil's own employees even had a clue. It may be nothing, it may be something. But I can't find where Microsoft registered trademarks for Vanguard when they were the sole publisher.

| Godwin's Law! I win. :P In all seriousness, it sure does take a lot of bravery from the anonymous protection of the intertubes to kick a guy all over the place after he's been laid off. Real impressive display of intelligence and acumen there, alright. Stay classy! Real people lost real jobs in their real lives and have to go home to their real families and try to figure out what to do tomorrow. The rest of us...just have to figure out if this will affect how we spend our recreation time online. Yeah, I can see the comparison.
