| That's sad regarding the employees, but I'm glad the game will be in good hands now (or more capable hands, at least). Well, actually, I don't care much about the game right now, but if somehow it's resurrected it could be fun... This really finalizes the black mark on Brad. |

+1 Internets | Yeah I would like to wish all the employees that *might be fired* good luck and I hope they find work quickly. I bet they will, since there seem to be a lot of companies just starting or that are working on new MMOs. Good luck! ![]() |

Sad that the people paying for this failure of the game are the people not really responsible for it sucking so bad. And the people who are responsible probably got a nice fat check, or atleast will get a new high paying job in SoE.

| I doubt it. Since he has to answer to the investors about that, you know...30 mill?

| Lol, you actually think SoE paid 30 mill forthis heap? I doubt it. And if they did, then they deserve to be suckers.

+109 Internets | I wouldn't be too surprised if they did pay whatever debt Vanguard has worked up.

+1 Internets | If you listen to the Virgin Worlds podcast from about a week ago Brent answers this question from his own experience with buyouts/mergers. And Yes, I do think that the debt is being paid off by SOE. They will want to keep this game as it's one of their biggest station pass games(meaning a lot of people play it that have station access) and they could make it quite profitable over the coming years. |

| From what I understand Sigil (with SoE backing) got to buy VG from Microsoft on the super cheap. Microsoft was done with it and wrote it off as a loss, so a large percentage of development costs up to that point ended up on Microsoft's balance sheet. I'd say the current events are all part of whatever contract Sigil and SoE entered into during that purchase. |

| It's not depressing, it's mixed. On the one hand, I can sympathize with the fired Sigil employees, on the other hand, I'm very glad McQuaid and Butler didn't managed to foist a crap game on the gaming public then paper it over with hype. I can only hope those two took a personal financial hit from its failure, and that McQuaid never gets within 10 miles of another project ever again. Best of luck to the Sigil employees as they look for other jobs in the industry.

So the game costs 30 mil to make and Brad sinks in some cash, his reputation and suddenly you think SoE ate the shares up at a profit for a failing product? Think about it for a minute first next time.
