| Plugged In Like Neo | I'm sorry, but you're really on your last leg if you're even going to compare VG with present-day EQ2. That's like putting a Scion with four bald tires and my grandma in the drivers seat up against a beautiful restored 69' Mustang. I suck at similes. Nonetheless, at least our game has a team dedicated to it - which is more than what you can say about yours. =P |

Whatever, cuppy. They are both crippled games and have been since release. But enjoy the bandwagon ride.

A game is a complicated thing, moreso if it's a MMO, there is not just a core to care about. I pick games because of their overall quality, not because of their "core" or their "potential", which to me sounds like an insult: if I show a clean screen and tell you "it has a ton of potential" you will laugh in my face and rightfully so. If I bury a cake into a huge pile of shit, you won't tell me that at its core it'll still be sweet, you'll say "damn, it tastes like shit!". Maybe the game mechanics for combat are good, but if the rest sucks, the game as a whole sucks, this is true for a lot of games. The same principle is applied when you talk about WoW lack of depth, which is very true: outside of combat, wow is really lacking. VG failed under many aspects, not only for the bugs or the CTDs. In a time where the last thing a producer should want is pissing off customers, Sigil went on a nerfing spree enraging at least half of their customers, admitted to have no clue on how to fix certain abilities and cutted them (see: leap attack), couldn't prevent and worse than that didn't stop yet a duping exploit, had zero raid content and lack of 40+ group content and the list could go on, it's been compiled for months and months. I agree with those that think some VG fan will stick to the game no matter what because they love the basic concept (not many as it has been proven), but if outside of the "concept" there is little to nothing to talk about but broken features, the core itself won't do jack and shit to save the rest of the game. Oh.. thanks to those who saved me 50$ x 2, if we'll ever met you are gonna drink for free, till you fall on the floor, that will be well spent money. Quote:

Now I find funny how from nowhere a lot of people are saying "Oh yea VG sucks! we always knew it!" and if you check the Vanguard: How anticipated thread you'll see posts from them "as anticipated as prom night!" posts. A lot of us saw through Brad's facade from day 1, and warned a lot of people, yea we were attacked but eh, now you guys see what happened. Vanguard must finish it's dying process, it's agonizing, not dead yet. For Brad?, well I've said enough I guess. And for Sigil employees?, well you guys did what you could given how bad leadership was, I sincerely hope you guys can find a new job, one where you have good leaders..

It's flawed and it certainly didnt do well, definitely seems to be a lack of focus and direction so shitty leadership is probably fair. But to write the whole game off as crap is merely opinion. | |

Brad truely has nothing to do with EQ2 other than the fact he helped create EQ1. He wasn't involved in the active design of EQ2. In fact, EQ2 released in 2005. That is FOUR YEARS after Brad has left the company in 2001 to start Sigil. Oh and everyone know I used to be a big fan of Brad, hoping that like EQ1 he could capture lightning in a bottle... well here is a snippet from his own bio, boy have things changed: McQuaid is one of the most respected online game developers in the industry, featured in numerous articles in publications such as The Wall Street Journal and Time Magazine. PC Gamer named him one of the "Next Game Gods" in their November 2000 issue. EQ2 is a completely different game than anything Brad envisioned. It is an extremely deep and involving game that gives players tons of things to do at all levels. Vanguard is what Brad wanted EQ2 to be... and we see what that was. Oh and Mkopec1, what is so "crippled" about EQ2? If you are basing subscriber numbers on how great a game is...

+109 Internets | Let's keep the "I told you so"s to a minimum please. They know, they've already had the thought and decided what their position is on it, isn't that good enough? Anything you say from here on out just makes you look bad.

| Ok Req, we just had to get that out not in the "We told you" way, bu tmore like "We told you and you attacked us and called us liars"; so it's more like vindication.
