+7 Internets | The New Armed Forces Currently I have friends stationed in both Iraq and Afghanistan, they're on patrol /active about 8 hours a day, the other 16 is free time for them to do whatever they want. They're provided with decent internet access that is unresistricted giving them a great deal of time to play WoW/Eve whatever. Now with the above in mind, would you enlist knowing that you'd be getting hazard pay (depending on rank and training can be pretty significant) and a ton of free time to play MMO"s or game in general? |

+3 Internets | I enlisted 3 years and 10 months ago and I start my terminal leave next week.If you think you will have "more" time to play MMOs after enlisting, you're mistaken. Although, granted, not everyone will have the same experience, and different duty stations and career fields will have different availabilty. But things like PT, Formations, Recalls, shift work with rotating schedules, and odd work hours, moving around alot, are generally not condusive to good raiding reliability.

| If you are thinking of enlisting in the military because you wish to serve your country in likely one of the most selfless ways possible that is one thing. If you are enlisting in the military so you have free time to play WoW? ... can someone get me that ascii art of the guy hold his head with a headache? edit: n/m ......................................__.......... ...................................... .............................,-~*`¯lllllll`*~,................................... ....... .......................,-~*`lllllllllllllllllllllllllll¯`*-,.................................... ..................,-~*llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll*-,.................................. ...............,-*lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll lllll.\................................. .............;*`lllllllllllllllllllllllllll,-~*~-,llllllllllllllllllll\............................ .... ..............\lllllllllllllllllllllllllll/.........\;;;;llllllllllll,-`~-,........................... ...............\lllllllllllllllllllll,-*...........`~-~-,...(.(¯`*,`,.......................... ................\llllllllllll,-~*.....................)_-\..*`*;..).......................... .................\,-*`¯,*`)............,-~*`~................/..................... ..................|/.../.../~,......-~*,-~*`;................/.\.................. ................./.../.../.../..,-,..*~,.`*~*................*...\................. ................|.../.../.../.*`...\...........................)....)¯`~,...... ............ ................|./.../..../.......)......,.)`*~-,............/....|..)...`~-,............. ..............././.../...,*`-,.....`-,...*`....,---......\..../...../..|.........¯```*~-,,,, ...............(..........)`*~-,....`*`.,-~*.,-*......|.../..../.../............\........ ................*-,.......`*-,...`~,..``.,,,-*..........|.,*...,*...|..............\........ ...................*,.........`-,...)-,..............,-*`...,-*....(`-,............\....... ......................f`-,.........`-,/...*-,___,,-~*....,-*......|...`-,..........\........

8 hours of work 16 hours of sleep/food/relationship. Wow, who woulda thunk it. Quote:
Nod. Well that and you have to shoot people in the face, and there is a chance of your vehicle being blown up, or you could get shot in the face, but what job doesn't have its downsides. Last edited by Jait; 09-29-2006 at 03:08 PM.. | ||

+7 Internets | Wooooooah.. back the fuck up, I'm not saying I would. What I am saying is the fact that you live somewhat of a normalized life overseas serving your country.. which doesn't necessarily mean you're on fucking patrol putting yourself in the line of fire. Does this by any means make the military appealing to other people? Most of the conviences of home, specifically a full fledged uncensored connection to the outside world. You're no longer isolated in a foreign place, away from the things you enjoy to do in your free time. My main point of all this was to play devil's advocate to the conviences they're providing over seas now, there are people who are getting more free time then I am with more pay, while they're life is in some sort of risk on a day to day basis (not all of them are patrolling), they do get all the same conviences as me, and the time to enjoy it. Does this make life in the military appealing to the guy who lives in mom and dad's basement with nothing but free time to play MMOs? |
