A board full of early 20 somethings are asked to talk about a dubious multi-front war and they respond with the the only perspective they know. blasphemy! Heaven forbid some of the rhetoric might sound the same. Wouldn't wanna violate the fucking sanctity of FOH general by treading over the same issue again with flagrant disregard for optimal efficency would we? You dismissing it with some half assed little catch phrase like "BUSH LIED SOLDIERS DIED" doesn't change the fact that this issue is the driving factor behind many peoples views on all topics related to the military climate today. What would you rather have in this thread? A sans dialog tally of yay/nay votes on if you would join the army to play mmorpgs? A bunch of mindless quips about the latency over there? How about a nice long rant about wasted tax money...or do people touch on that too much already? If you don't like the scope of discussion regarding these issues feel free to make note of those individuals below your caliber of worldly knowledge on all things related to the current geopolitical climate and ignore them. Better yet, just go be a subservient and play MMOs in Iraq with your mouth shut. Maybe you will start to appreciate the constant reiteration when you get sucked back into a pointless war in Iran. Rickshaw!

+166 Internets | Ah, but you can belittle anyone who's never served in the armed forces which is one of the perks. Even the most retarded high school dropout can sign up for a tour of duty and then when he gets back can go around saying "Listen up you little shit, I risked getting shot so obviously my opinion on farming, video games and fine china is more valid then anyone elses." Getting to act indignant whenever people don't kowtow to your every whim is even on the brochure now I believe. |

+166 Internets | I think the real question is would you what would you do if your commanding officer PK'd and then spawn camped you in STV. Personally, I've always wanted to knock over a portapotty while someone was in it. |

| AF here, in tech school (MOS school for army folks) the schedule was 7:30-4:30 which was nice, but in the real world I work 4 12s a week as an intel troop (stateside).. doesn't really jive with a raid guild, but some people can pull it off. I would hardly think having the time to game would be one of your primary reasons for enlisting, though.

Yes, thats how useless your post was. If you think they get the same conveiences you're wrong. Yeah, they may get 16 hours of "off duty", but do you HONESTLY think 16 hours is spent playing games? You see, you get to come home to your family. You get to go sit around with your friends in a big group (minus the ones overseas, god bless their bravery), you get to see your WHOLE FAMILY AT ONCE, atlease those closest to you most likely..and you have what? 13 hours a day to do all of that? They have 16 hours to sleep/eat/call everybody they want to talk to/write everybody they wanna keep in touch with/read all their e-mails/rest/sleep..That can't leave much tiem for WoW.. You don't seem to understand that in those 16 hours, they have to live the life you live all 24 hours a day. and its HARDER for them to. | |

| As a married E-5 over 8 years of service I make about 2400 bucks a paycheck in Iraq. Plus I'm still not having to pay medical or dental bills, which would be huge for my family. So about $52k for the year I'm over there. Not bad, but not where I want to be financially. Also, holy shit Tripamang you should be relegated to Rickshaw-only status for this thread. |
