Ok well, I just got an email - they've extended their offer - these CD keys will allow you to create a fully-functional account for free with access to all of expansions and stuff (I'm pretty sure)

Post here after you've used a keycode and others will know which are available:

then you read the small print....all account...AFTER the expansions are enabled are NO LONGER free....but are charged the usual 9.99 a month...

there is always a catch.

I'd rather have 200 free levels and no expansions then 200+ levels and some random expansions I'll never play for 9.99 a month. BTW...if you have an anarchy online account you automatically get a CDkey for "Free Upgrades" and they do the mail out once a month or so...check your spam filter box.

Yeah heh. They're sent out quite often. You can use a key to upgrade an existing account to full expansion. Saving you the cost of buying the software.

You still have to sub though.

It honestly is not really that bad of a game. The worst launch in history doomed it though.

Anarchy online is probably my favorite mmorpg ever. I played at launch and it was horrible, but after picking it up two years ago I loved it (quit due to time constraints though). The armor system makes perfect sense. If you have any brains you can twink your character pretty well. It has probably the deepest amount of customization of any game (along w/ eve). If you are an idiot you can gimp yourself. You aren't necessarily pigeon holed into one role. MA for example can do sick dmg, tank a bit, and primary heal or back up heal depending upon who is tanking for pick up groups. The best part is i found the community to be much better than most other games, but that might just be my experience. I am probably one of the minority but I really like this game.
